Do you guys add vinegar or anything?
Using an instant pot didn’t hurt the jars but when I switched to the presto it was insta rust on the bands. Pouring a little vinegar seems to help but doesn’t make the wbs smell any better.
The extra weight on the rocker keeps it quiet and saves water.

That will work,but...
The weight is designed to vent at precisely or very nearly at 15 psi. Dropping the temperature to below the venting pressure stops the venting, but reduces the temperature below the sterilizing pressures that are assumed for the times that have been worked out.
By adding some small weight to the rocker, the venting occurs at 18-19 psi in my case. So by dropping the temperature, I can keep the pressure above 15 psi but below the venting pressure. This reduces the noise and loss of water/steam.
A.K.A, I always use about 2 table spoons of vinegar. I don't use metal lids so rust is not the issue for me. But the water here is hard as the dead sea so my jars come out looking like a frosted x-mas ornament if I don't add vinegar.
Smells up the place a bit, but I actually like vinegar. My son hates it. lol

20psi at the lowest heat setting. I can do many many cycles on the same batch of water.
Thanks man, this thing is a tank compared to my presto but it will be nice to get 2 runs done at once. Next I need to clean out this used 25x and see how she holds up.

Its all about thermodynamics. At sea level, water boils at 100c or 212f. At 15 psi water boils at something like 250f. 250f is better than 212f for sterilization. Well it is quicker, anyway. If this was not the case, you wouldn't need to use a pressure cooker at all. (Actually you don't, but it takes longer and might not be as reliable.)
So what adding additional weight does is allow you to sterilize at 250 or a bit more without all of that loud hissing and water loss. If you are sterilizing jars for 2 hours, it is nice knowing that you are not going to run out of water and possibly destroy your grain, Jars, or PC...

Mushboy, is that two quarters and two dimes, 7 dimes, or 14 nickles?

really all u have to do is find the sweet spot on your stove idk ive heard people putting shit on the rocker but it just seem useless if your pc is hissing and loosing water to fast thats because your fire is way to hight just turn it back a lil till the rocker is just barely hissing

Thsts correct. But the burners I am forced to use are to powerful even at the lowest setting. I need the heavier rocker. I can keep steady pressure if half the PC is hanging off the grate on the stove but that seems really stupid and dangerous.

Yeah I get nervous running mine RIGHT at 15psi. Add some weight so it runs quietly around 17 and I feel better.

It gives me wiggle room to walk away for a few minutes, my dumb ass stove randomly fluctuates in temperature. It could dip below 15 in a matter of moments if I'm not watching the shifty fucker.

Yeah i'm with ya sponge. I feel a lot better about only doing 90 min when i'm rolling at 17-18 and i love the quiet.
Some no prep WBS I did last night. 275g grain, 200g water. Seems like a pretty good recipe.

You should try it, trip.. ‘twas a game changer. Especially if you live in an apt.. the silence is golden and it uses waaaaay less energy and there’s no worry of boiling dry. You just need to vent the pc for about 10 minutes or until there’s a steady stream of steam coming out before you add the rocker.. 10-15 of loudness is better than 1.5 hours in my situation
