Hello friends. Need your input on this jar. There is an area of blue mycelium in this jar and it looks like a pin is knotting in the area. I have seen many colors in gnarly jars but this blue spot is new to me. I always thought "bruised" mycelium was kind of bs other than when you see it on your substrate/fruits. Would you guys spawn or toss?

Well c10, I had mentioned before that canna coir was my favorite but have been getting trich with every batch now that I got a new batch of coir. I don't know what's changed but I blame it on canna brand coir. I've changed my coir but lost 4 tubs in the process, hoping for good things to come with my new coir.
Pretty sure you gotta have one of these around somewhere, they will order this in if they don't have it in stock.
https://www.homehardware.ca/en/5kg-beyond-peat-coir-coconut-fibre-soil-supplement/p/5053990
It's hard to see but it comes in four smaller slabs which are 1250grams each. Also I've weighed every brick and everything is close as fuck or overweight. Nothing is under. With eco earth I find myself getting shorted often on the 3 packs.
Best thing, its the cheapest coir I have found...and I have 100% success rate since switching though I tossed a bunch of sketchy jars these last months.
Anything that went to a tub has been success. Hydrating using hot tap water.

Just realized I never wash my grains prior to simmering them anymore. Think it really matters?
You'd think any dirt/dust in there would get zapped in the PC, but dirt sure is dirty microbe wise
workin with oats if it matters

The bran doesn't cause your wheat to stick and clump?

Not mine. Just cooked 2 50# bags and no clumping. Im sure the brand plays a huge role in how clean the grain is. Mine was barAle

My last bag of oats had a pile of chaff in it, crushed hulls, and probably 2.5lb of soybeans. Im looking around it would be nice to get a bag of straight oats that aren't beat to hell and dont have beans, corn, and chaff mixed in. I don't even care if it costs more if its straight oats and not a lot of other crap I don't want it's worth it.

hive mind, So my beloved white millet has a problem. Im at the point where all my jars are full so im trying to run a 7 jars 3 bags system rob Peter to pay Paul thrown in too. Problem being millet in jars for 2.5 hours clumps up and forms a solid body. Im thinking of running 7 jars and once per cycle and the bags twice for the 1.5 hour cycle each. Im thinking as long as the gap between cycles isnt that long it should sterilise the bags. It sounds a bit wanky but not having enough jars(too many projects colonising) is annoying me... In between cycles im spawning so I have more jars.

You can add some gypsum to the millet that will be going in the jars.
Bags and Jars of grain spawn have different sterilization time requirements. Bags can need 3 to 4 hours. Jars only 1.5 to 2 hours.

what im really asking is does 2 -2hours sterilisation sessions count as 4 hours or does it need to be continuous?

Hey guys
First flush of golden teachers from a growkit. I noticed a little blue spot on the top of the sub, could it be contamination or just mycelium bruising? Also, are my shrooms looking ok? They seem to be growing nicely but are very stubby and short and some of them have funny shapes, growing sideways etc...
