Dog shit tek 2020. It’s coming cuz I’m pretty sure I’m about to get this house and will have much more room to work.

I used to spray soapy water in the SAB. And even before that I used to clean it first with alcohol or bleach but I’ve slowly cut down on so many things and now I just spray straight water on the SAB so that once I’m done I just dry it with a dish towel and put it away.

My SAB doesn't even get the courtesy of being put away afterwords. I use it dry. No wiping or spraying beforehand. Then when I finish same damn thing. I just get up and walk away.
Come back later and do the same thing use it and walk away. I don't move it or clean it.

Mine would disrupt my eating activities if I left it in its place. My kitchen table is perfect height to stand and do SAB work.

I’ve thought about raw doggin it dry but I’m too skert. The light misting of water doesn’t effect visibility or require cleanup so I stopped my regression there. A little cushion for the times I make a little air flow inside accidentally.

Eat on top of it.
Or place your food inside of it lmao. Not really.
But yea, dry works fine and no need to wipe it down first.
I sometimes will spray a little soapy water inside but only if I'm feeling extra that day. It definitely doesn't hurt anything.

I'm starving why'd you have to bring up eating activities lmao.

I dropped a chunk of mushroom into a grain jar a few days ago just to see what would happen.

Looks like colonization to me. Wasn’t going to recommend others do it, but y’all have me convinced.

isopropyl unnecessary
agar unnecessary
spores unnecessary

Went to give my CRS tub a spray down, and noticed a few little bugs scurrying around. Fungus gnats? Maybe. What should I do bout them? Its already done its 3rd flush, figured I could get another 3 out of it or so, but I dont want those fucks spreading around. Looks isolated to that one tub. Should I just chuck the tub, or is there a quick fix treatment to get rid of em?

A cup of apple cider vinegar, piece of perforated saran wrap rubber banded over the top... works for fungus gnats, fruit flies, and regular flies

I have 2 test jars going, actually. One is a small bit taken from inside only. The other is as lazy as I could think of: took a slice of a stump, skin and all, as well as a bit of the “fuzzy foot” surrounding it.

Both jars are actually colonizing, but I’m not positive the second one is progressing anymore.

probably fungus gnats. i've never personally seen them infect a new tub but i guess it's possible. however they've gotten into some of my old tubs that i kept around for too long. you can look into pesticides but the main thing is to remove the places where they lay eggs (top 1/4" layer of old substrate and casing material). clean out your tubs, buckets, and whatever you use to pasteurize your casing soil sooner rather than later. don't keep tubs for 3+ flushes. there's not much reason to do that anyways.
