Then mix with what ever substrate you want coir or straw or Vermiculite.
Wait so I have to age the black cow or is that just with the fresh horse manure and how long? I live in an urban/ suburban type area so there's not really any horses or farms where I live. Do they usually describe this one the teks I just started researching pan cyans.

Looking for pictures to explain possibly but a simple explanation will work.
What I want to know is when is the cow patty too old?
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24180231 This thread shows when they are prime but I am really curious when is it too old. Where I'm at is a newly active again pasture. All patties are fresh as hell or old ass white ones. Are the older ones not great to use anymore?
They don't get too old. If you can still pick it without disintegrating up it is fine. Even if it is disintegrating it's still fine but hard to collect. Older the better for cow manure. You really dont want to be using stuff that is moist in the middle, that is too green. It's best if it has at least dried out fully and becomes hard and better as it ages and grays out and becomes more like compressed straw.

This is the way

I have one for metal work, cuts through a big block of coir in seconds like butter.

Thanks Crack.
I was worried it might be moving slower than expected. I haven’t touched it since making the tub, and there’s nice tiny water beads on the mycelium, so I wasn’t planning on touching it until/unless that changes.

Psyche from what I understand with Black Kow you just use it how it comes, you don't need to age it.
For Hpoo I would always collect older piles, but I would leave the real dusty white ones. Nothing wet really but even if you collect some wet you can use the dry stuff first and just let the other stuff chill in a pile. I had a giant pile that just sat in my backyard growing little white mushrooms until i was ready to use it.

Does anyone here know why my shrooms would be coming out sterile? Its weird I didnt notice it until my last few harvest. The caps went from being spotted and wide on my first grow to being pointed almost like PE. The gills are yellowish with no signs of sporulation.

This is the same culture as the pics in my sig. strain is gt.

Verticillium aka dry bubble. You can tell from the blown out stipes.

search for "Verticillium" . You case does not look that bad - it can affect yields of fruit bodies. They are safe to harvest and consume.

Yea it's pretty minor but the reason why your flush is weak. Personally i'd make sure to use a nice heated dehydrator to kill the fungus.

Doesn't look like vert to me. Also I see spore or at least a darker color through the veils in those picks Oviod.
Can you post a closer picture?
Just look like they need a little more FAE.

Might be clear spores or close to sterile. I do see color under those caps. I think you just harvested early.
Print one and send me the print and I can check it under the scope of you would like.
