I actually weighed my coir the other day when I made some. I also used a few qt verm to dry out some moisture but here’s the recipe.
I had 708g dry coir, 2.5 maybe 3qt verm and 3.5 qts water for 7 shoe boxes spawned 1:1.5 (1 Qt spawn to 1 qt sub with .5qt top layer) and I ended up with just a half qt maybe left over. So looking at it that way 100g coir with a handful of verm and some Aqua would be a good start for a single shoe box

I don't think it really matters that much. Myc from a clone will grow all over the plate way before spores have time to germinate.

Anybody have this FFU? I kinda wish I would have found this before I built mine. But it's for a friend, he works with bags. I think 22" will be tall enough. Thanks.

I've seen it on amazon and it's from china. I was going to buy it. Its perfect if it works right. I want it. I might buy it eventually. My dude just got 2 2x4 ffu for 500$ w/good filters in them. Score.
But yeah this china ffu looks like the bees knees. Is it. Idk.

Big thanks to everyone who posts and helps out here. Don't want to say I know what I'm doing yet but after months and sometimes up to 10 transfers I'm getting full flushes of beautiful fruit and no green. Patience, reading, and persistance pays off. I was close to throwing in the towel but glad I stuck with it.

For storing myc in slants does anyone think it would be better to use charcoal in the agar as I've heard it has antibacterial properties anyone have an opinion about this?

Typically you're not going to slant anything for long term storage unless you're certain that the colonized slant is clean, if you're worrying about bacteria then you still have some agar work I. Front of you before you can start slanting long term. Hope that helps

I could be way off but to me that looks like a far too wet substrate. The middle left part that looks to be the 'muddiest' is also the least colonized part. And a huge portion of myc has that gray color that it gets when it's waterlogged. How often are you misting and how did you prepare the sub, is that only coir and grain or something else in there?

I don’t think it’s too wet, the substrate is coco coir and vermiculite and the set up is small holes drilled at mushroom level and two large holes near the top

But you seem to be way more experienced, any way to remedy it if it is too wet, I recently gave it a light misting after getting some advice, that was the first and last time I misted it, as I was under the impression you didn’t need to mist or do air exchanges to monotubs

To have a chance to offer you a good advice on your sub I or anyone else for that matter would need some basic info. So how many qts of spawn and bulk sub was used and when did you spawn this?

I used about 650 grams of coco coir brick, 2 quarts of vermiculite, 4 litre of water and 1.5kg of oat spawn and it was spawned about 7 days ago

And sorry about the mixed up measuring units, I’m Aussie but was going by American measurements Also it’s only been misted once lightly, it’s on top of a fridge in a small room getting a decent amount of ambient light and the air holes are covered with micropore tape

But if the secondary metabolize is for sure from the cubes, Doesn't it have chemical signaling that will not only help cube spores germinate but also prepare them for what they're up against? Can this be utilized?
Sorry, I'm replying to MLP
