When should I be shaking my jars? It's been about 12 days and this is as far as they've grown. The third jar in the back seems to be growing throughout (little patches on the other side of the jar) but don't see any growth on these two jars outside of these patches.

Also, how long do fresh grain jars last before they need to be inoculated or tossed? Can I use my 12+ day old grain jars for my grain transfers or should I just sterilize more grain?

and some fuzzies I'm growing out:

If the jars are properly sterilzed they will last for months.

You can shake now or wait till about ,30%

Putting some BHT and RW spores to agar.
My current genetic stock is kinda weak, and my current RW stock is from my original 2018 sample is really not a great culture.
I took prints from it end of last year, so I'm giving it a go.
I also pretty much lost all my thai samples due to the mite issue. I've missed its voracious nature, and after doing my comparison of the thai varieties, BHT came out on top in terms of performance.

So I'm not familiar with dehydrators but I'm been on the lookout for a bigger dehydrator than my presto. I came across this Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator locally for $100 picked up. It is an open box brand new condition. I was wondering if this is a good deal and whether this specific dehydrator is good or not

We used to have one like that but its plastic and the trays melted on us one time. So no more plastic dehydrators for me.. we went for a metal one with metal trays after that happened

Also... you gotta think about how big your fruits are... I looked at those briefly but the strains I'm currently playing with are much too big to fit in that tiny shelf... if you cap all your mushrooms its nbd but I like the whole fruits...

Yeah with the stackable type you can at least fit oversized fruits in there and they loose size pretty quick allowing the trays to drop down and seal up.

How hot did your dehydrator get that the plastic melted? It seems like some kind of malfunction

That’s just bruised.

Looks like it’s been colonized a while.

That second picture is super bacterial.

The first one looks like it finished a while ago and is bruising from drying out.
