Idk if it’s a coincidence or what but lately I’ve had a couple jars just over half full and they’ve colonized much better than my normal ones even accounting for less grain.
Either coincidence or a ge thing.
Me too! LOL I just had a round of jars too high & tight (semper fi) to shake. Think I went for 75% or a skosh more. So then came maybe a bit too much G2G. Then when it got to 30% myc it wouldn't shake lose. I think the myc added volume too! Anyway, if yer still reading, I'm down with 60% too homie!

It's my first grow so it's the only genetics I've worked with -- it's Golden Teacher, MS syringe to agar to grain. Temp is 69-73.

I followed the teks to the tee, squeezed the oats in a paper towel and barely any water was on them before sterilizing.

That’s not bad for six days, I’d say average.
I’d wait another couple days and shake it.

All my bags colonize the top grain last and very slowly. Whats up with that? Why do they do this and how can I avoid it?

I cant possibly imagine trying to run the amount of bulk I do in shoeboxes or sweaterboxes. That would be a legit nightmare.
Your right. I run 58qt monos when I do. If not its shoeboxes and sweater boxes 12 & 16 at.
I'm thinking of drilling holes in the sweater boxes. Like 3/4 or 1in holes like traditional mono.
58qts are the best so far in my book. Your right, set and forget. Dont have to mess with them at all.
I have jars that do that too. Dont colonize top grains very well. Idk. To much air? Crappy grain? I have certain wbs that does it when other ones dont.

This tubs look a little off to anyone else Its got 3 pins and no visable knots. Probably my fault for running untested clones lmao. Anything I should do? Increase FAE? I took the filters out of top two holes.
So I opened up the top two holes. Ive fanned a couple times yesterday and a couple today(something I dont do ever). And I've also been living the lid off for a little bit a couple times a day. Looking better at all? Im pretty disappointed in this culture its melmac. Untested clone. Looks like a regular ass cube. Takes forever to pin. Also hasnt put out a great pinset. Im running it in 4 minis and 4 shoeboxes. This is the furthest along of them all.

I feel like it's just the top grains drying out, but I'll do a shake and they still don't colonize the top like some do. I switched to MP tape over the hole and tyvek over the lids hoping to retain more moisture to see if that will help.

I've been soaking the last of my wood chips for a cyan bed, dumped it out today and it just smelled awful, like a sewer. So I rinsed it with a house and started laying it out in my bed only to find this giant pile of animal shit right in the middle, it's been festering for over a week. For fuck sakes

Lmao nature was calling bud. Probably just extra nutritious woodchips now.

Gizmo hopefully you don’t have a bad clone.
I just spawned my first clone of it with a second almost ready.
My first shoebox started out kinda like yours with the pins. It had just a couple at first like a warm up flush then a real one came in after.
It never got dense but good enough and they were all big.

Yea spores are my main goal. Im almost half tempted to not pass on the non penis genetics though. My swab was marketed as producing 40+ grammer dicks. These are neither large(could be my clone) nor dicks. We shall see how she goes. Did yours put out penises or regular ass cubes?

Big ass normal ones. Some of the pins were the size of my thumb.

I actually really like the way they look but now I still need the PE pheno.

Ok. I have a PEU syringe that put out PEU genetics on cakes in 2017 and now it make normal cubes. I have started mixing it with shit cause it is a decent fruiter. Still haven't seen a shoebox of PEU out of it though in 2020.

Looks like I've got some life on my no pour plates. How big should I let it get before I transfer? They're from spore so they're likely dirty. It's hard to see due to condensation so I might pop them into the SAB later today and check em out.

Probably not. A lot of blowers don't work well with the back pressure of a hepa filter designed for laminar flow.

How high do you guys sit relative to the SAB while doing work in it?
I’m starting to think the run of contamination I had was mostly from changing chairs. I got lazy and instead of bringing my actual chair in I just started sitting on the five gallon bucket I had in the room for a while.
A few weeks ago I finally needed the bucket and went back to the regular chair and have had like 90% less contams.
It just doesn’t seem feasible that sitting like six inches lower would cause problems like that but it’s the only thing that’s changed.

Nope. Get an AC blower and then build your plenium based on the flowhood and the blower specs.

When you sit lower does it cause your arms to rest on, scrape or bump the arms holes? If so it was probably the problems. I try not to let my arms rest on or bump the holes ever it causes a piston effect that can move air around.
