Yep it always boils down to weather or not you aim to get the most out of your spawn or most out of your tub slash space

Two totes were prepared(x6), each getting 1 gallon of colonized WBS to some pasteurized Coir/hpoo, pins spotted @ 10 days!
Will one of my 58qt totes 5" thick give better results as two separate 58qt totes 2.5" thick? I did see in increase of 2 ounces dry, however the additional tote means we are taking up twice as much space. Between the addition space requirement and labor/time invested spawning the second tote I feel like it was not worth it imo. Just thought I'd share combined weight of two smaller totes
weight of one of my larger totes with 2 gallons of spawn

very cool. makes sense.

First off, nicely done! As for the results, good on you for trying. I understand where you are coming from on the fruiting space thing, probably the hardest thing to come up with is more fruiting area. However if we take anything from this, it's that there is wasted BE happening. Not much but some.
I'm no longer going to suggest splitting into 2 but, I bet that you could make a smaller sub and not see yield loss. Even a sub reduction of half an inch might only translate into a quart less spawn and 2 quarts less substrate per tub. But over the course of a half dozen tubs, that's like a whole tub extra, would add up.
So if reducing the sub volume slightly did not cause an overall drop in yield it might be nice to see the same output for less materials. Just a thought man.

I realized on my last flush I could have gotten closer to the stumps. Last time, after chopping down the canopy, I did some surgery and made stump nuggets by sawing off slices with an exacto knife.
Are the stumps from a few days ago dead now? Or is there still something active in them worth harvesting? They seem fine.

I'm not sure it's frowned upon. Just there is nothing that backs up the claims. Seems to me that I can grow loads of cubes with a good culture and clean spawn. Why dick around with something unproven?

Not to my knowledge. But the real question is why? Nutrition is not what is lacking in most people's grows anyways. The spawn ratios and nutrients we use push the envelope of too nutritious. How is more nutes going to be of use? Even from the potency angle, what is in plant ferts that we can't provide easier and cheaper with other means?
Remember that excess nutrition will simply sit unused. Many people who are suplimenting the crap outta their grows don't have any better results to show for it. Otherwise they would be here rubbing our noses in it. Show me a mono with 5 quarts spawn and 10 quarts sub tht puts out better than 13 dry oz first flush and I will listen. Otherwise you ain't doing anything I can't already do for less cost and fewer vectors.

That of course is the best I ever did. But if I'm gonna be buying a bunch of extra crap and prepping it, dealing with vectors, that's the return I want. Otherwise it's not worth the effort.
People who show a 7 oz mono and credit the full moon, or soft music, or the plant ferts, need to give credit where it's actually due. The fungus deserves the credit, not Monsanto and not the pink mood crystals. The fungus did it.
