I won't ever fill them this full again. Ill probably have to use the sterile fork method to get them out when they reach 100%. Lol

My hand is sore as hell but some are manageable so thats good.

Once mine are done I’ve never shook them for whatever reason.

I just have this huge nail I stick in the jar and wiggle and everything falls out.

Probably should just shake them since I gotta hand break the clumps anyways.

Those are cool looking. Weird clear jelly caps.

Reminds me of a thread I saw about albino liberty caps or something like that.

They look exactly like libs except for the color, but they don’t stain so I already know they’re not active. That said it looks like a non-active Pan varietal to me and there’s more of those than active pans so I was really just tryna determine if they were one of those.

That said I just had a weird idea: could you cross a non active with an active and get like... psilocybin containing edibles? Like enokis with pans or porcinis with cubensis? Would be cool but I wouldn’t expect it to be possible right?

EDIT: wait these are growing on wood chips, and my understanding is that all panaeolus species are dung loving?

Edit 2: I’m wrong there are several woodloving Pan varieties

Which one of these guys would you clone? And is it best to clone when they're pins or when they're fully matured fruits? Also feel free to talk garbage about the pool of bacteria water in the bottom of the tote.  Im soaking it up with a paper towel atm.

I’ve always waited til they were mature but pin myc is supposed to be faster.

I’d grab one of the bigger center pins.

If that’s first flush I’d just wait and see which one matures the fastest (all the way to veil tearing) and then clone it, just so you can select fast and big fruiters. If it’s second flush I generally wouldn’t clone it but that’s only because it’s ffaaarr easier to replicate initial conditions to get the selected characteristics rather than trying to replicate an already fruited sub. Example:

These monster fruits are second flush, and came from this tub:

Basically what I’m saying is I have no clue what caused the second flush fruits to get so big. They came from a culture that is super consistent, but would only pump out monsters like that on the second flush. Point being, it’s hard to replicate conditions of an already fruited sub because we don’t know exactly what takes place in a substrate during fruiting. It’s easier and more consistent to clone a first flush fruit because we can better replicate the conditions our preferred clone thrives in.

I am still sharpening my skills with my mycelium friends,
There has been a few cakes in SGFC's give a few fruit,
But I believe I will get a good flush from my current shoebox.
I wasn't able to get my AA+ to do anything,
But I am having better luck with the prints I got of
B+, Burma, and Golden Teacher.
I have a small grow log,
if you'd like to see what I have been doing,
Feel free to comment xP
Have a good night everyone

So if my shoebox is starting to side pin, does it mean FAE was insufficient when knots were forming or the top had dried out too much? Also is that heavy condensation at the edge of the substrate bad? These pictures are day 12.

So it's too dry then? I opened the air gaps a little more and misted it.

Thanks so much for the tips about moving them out of the SAB-- I put them near my central heating and wow, the condensation was cleared up for most plates overnight and the growth was substantial! It was probably 60-64F under my window and around 70-73F above my fridge. The first two pics are the plates I made transfers from and the last pic is the second pic's growth after several days. The plates with very heavy condensation still look janky though. :frown:

Does the first pic look okay though? I've never seen growth like it out of all the pictures I've used for reference here. The fuzz isn't growing very fast, it was like this a day or two after making the transfers-- I hear cobweb grows quickly and this seems to grow about as fast as it's grown since it was dropped on the plate. Here's two more pics:

I was wondering if there is a difference between organic rye grain and malted rye grain or would that be the same thing? I have organic rye grain ordered but it is taking a long time to come due to the pandemic. I can get some malted rye grain from a local homebrew store much quicker, would that work?

Thanks in advance.

I don't hear of people using malted rye grains here much. I imagine they would work fine. When I started out I exclusively tried to use organic rye berries because I thought it was known to be the best grain to use. I also saw more teks using it. After a while I found that I could find wheat berries much easier in my part of the world, and they functioned much the same as rye berries in the tek's (kinda interchangeable) I also dropped the organic requirement as a few folks on the forum found the organic grains to be more problematic.

That’s an insane amount of transfers.

I like the ninja star look though.

I’ve noticed cutting into the myc can alter the growth a lot too. Like I’ve had a lot of plates that were fuzzy and then I’ll take a wedge and the spot I took from will turn rhizo.

It should definitely work from nutrition perspective, since most of us are making agar with LME. I don't know how it would be considering the grain prep tho. It might turn into mush much easier.

Right on, I may just wait for my order. It could be tricky using it, with it already have been processed a bit.

I'm thinking about trying bags for cubensis. Gonna try to make some outdoor beds.. what types of bags and filters would you recommend? The plan would be to inoculate the bags of manure with grain spawn letting it colonize then either fruiting the giant ball of manure or spawning it to an outdoor heap.

Yeah, the issue is that malting process basically involves germinating those grains and then heated up. Germinating will open up those grains a little.
