My gf is a biotechnologist. I hope she doesn't pick up this thing, because she'd be pushing probably 10x as much and make my cry.

moving on from cyberbiotech GF's... (funny, I just assumed you all are women, using gender play to throw off the fuzz) -
...... Black mold in my utility sink, where I clean my tubs. Its old fiberglass... what's the best product to knock the mold down? I doubt I can irradiate it, but I wanna try...

I got a fan and a space heater in my grow space. I think it’s drying out my subs. But I don’t think I can go without either.. I been misting when light goes on and when light goes off. Been keeping surface conditions good. the coir still looks dry af with beads of moisture on mycelium tho. It’s 10 days since spawn. My temps been 60-65 . It’s taking a few days longer cus the colder temp I’m just worried bout keeping the sub from dryin out before fruits.
Any suggestions?

I’d say bleach water would be best for the mold in the sink.. gotta let it sit for like 30 minutes though
@culliganman. You can take an eye dropper and wet just the dry coir parts or just pull back on the spray bottle trigger slowly right close to the area and it should come out in more of a drop than a spray.

Yeah bro this is like 1/4 of my sub that’s dry like the size of a pack of 100’s cigarettes.. I did a top coat soak when spawned also . So it shouldn’t be drying up like this

Why do you need the fan? Maybe limit air exposure for the tub then
Maybe your sub was prepped dry?

I thought I heard somewhere that bleach has a hard time killing black mold.

Sorry I'm just a noob, with one grow under his belt. I'm going 100% oat broth because I'm persuaded by Primal's experiment. I really don't have enough experience to compare results. And it's entirely possible that 100% is way too much. I can hear Primal now, "good grief another noobie going off in the wrong direction! "
ah I haven't really gotten a chance to read all the way through that thread just thought he was using diluted grain soak water because of this part I read
I also see I've left out that I've changed my LME agar recipe now to use rye grain broth (1/2 cup simmered 1/2 hr in 1/2 liter water) instead of straight water. And that has really perked up the cultures I've put on it so far.
this is late but yeah it's rye grain simmered in water to make the broth, filtered with fine mesh (because I can) and used for all the water in regular LME. Works quite well as the myc loves it.
Don't think there are wrong directions really only new avenues of discovery.

insulation , theres this thing called radiant guard i use it and it helps to maintain the temp stable once the heater is off , i use it and love it ,

if i PC my agar but the psi kept going up and down between 15-18 (its my first time PCing so i was testing what heat will make the psi idle at 15), will it cause some issues?

Should be cool long as it didn't dip below 15 for long. Next time start high and go down in smaller increment. Then give it plenty of time to stabilize at that temp before you go adjusting the knob again. Just until you get used to it and where the heat setting needs to be.

Day 8, it's coming along. Man, the urge to mess with and monitor it is too much, are the air gaps the right size or or or are the surface conditions alright WHOA is that mold!? Wait I think that's mycelium.

It never dipped below 15 thankfully. I was just distracted and wasn't watching the meter like a hawk. I checked every 5-10 mins. And it's weird how a little increase/decrease in heat caused drastic psi changes which threw me off. I learned I had to turn the knob very slightly so I'll do better in future runs. Hopefully this cycle was a success and my agar turned out fine

All my coir was brought to field capacity with verm . With a top layer+soak from my sprayer for 20sec . I don’t think I prepped it dry bro .I tried to prep it for set and forget. And the fan is so there’s not still air where all the shoeboxes are stacked up together . Get some airflow. Fae n shit

Duah... Yeah I should definitely put up insulation thanks bro
Another Q. Man my grow space floods . I went down to turn on lights and there’s About 10 sqf of puddle down there . Pretty shur it’s coming up through a floor crack . You think that will bring contam with it?

Well since getting my flow disrupted and not having new grows to mess with I’ve made a bunch of spawn. Gonna be wild in a month.
I hate g2g with super healthy jars I’m always scared I’m gonna end up with four bacterial jars instead of one good one.
I did g2g with ms PE and toc, dropped wedges for atl7, a clone from a 50g pe6, a pf classic plate pin clone, dropped two pins of rw into grain, have jars of amazon and Tasmanian almost done, about to spawn another jar of ufo, I have two jars of Melmak clones colonizing, a jar of pan clone I just shook, an ape clone that’s slow as fuck that’s been on grain like 15 days and is half done.
Then I just grained some king oyster.
Later today I think I’m dropping pan pins into a half pint of wbs, and knocking up three more half pints with old lc for Burma and maz.
Everytime I don’t have enough going on I get bored and figure I’ll just start another one or two jars and then I end up living in a shroom forest a few weeks later when it all catches up. At least these are all pretty staggered so I know I’ll have good stuff going for another two months at least.

Hello everyone, sorry I have not uploaded a new design for the 3D printed filter holder for jar lids yet. My home state is finally opening up, so I am getting the hell out of Got Covid City. Sirachi, a member here, and I have been working on it via email. He has printed about a dozen tests for me, but now that I will be near my printer, it will be a lot faster for me. I am wrapping up my work here and will be home in a day or two, at which point I will finish it up.
Thank you to all who contributed input into the design. Without your help, I would have made a lid only suited for SLA printing. With FDM printing it would take 2x as long and use 2x as much material because of extensive supports needed.
I also took the time to actually draft this instead of welding a bunch of primitives. The result is no hidden faces or ngons so a much faster rip to your slicer and no unexpected voids. Sirachi has been printing it at .1mm on his modified Ender3 in TPU and it is very rigid, able to withstand repeated PC runs without deformity, and strong. It's just a much better design now than the original one I uploaded.
Here is a peek at it. As it turns out Sirachi lives within an hour of me and we are going to meet up and get this dialled in, in the next week or so. At this point it is very close. I have to fix a problem with the retaining prongs not having enough material under them to hold, and when that is done, I will upload the STL and .blend files for everyone to use, or modify at will.
If people want the finished product but do not have a printer I will make these to trade with members. I am sure others here would be willing to do the same. I will help you get these once they are ready to print, so don't fret or pay a bunch for a service to print them for you.

As long as its above 15 you are good. Find a spot on the stove where it will stay in that range and you will be good. On my stove it's about 3.5 on my largest burner, but that's my stove, my pc, my environment. You will have to fiddle with it to find the sweet spot.

Mine is 3.5 also but if I go straight to 3.5 after hitting 15psi it dips way below 15psi you have to let temps stabilize first I take my sweet ass time backing the heat off to between 3 and 4 I dont care if the weight shakes violently for a half hour or however long.
