Just posted this in the shoebox thread, so sorry for the double post but figured id get some input here as well... talking about some shoeboxes ive got going obv
Hey guys having some big issue with my sub becoming super dry, even prior to full colonization (theres some myc popping through the psuedo substrate). I spawned them about a week ago -- theres a space heater in my rooms to keep the temps up, which i suspect the reason to be its getting so dry...
Any prob with misting prior to full colonization / first flush or pins? How about doing some bottom watering? Either one preferable?
I will try to get some pics and post them, thanks

Contamination is user error. Flowhoods have many advantages over a SAB when it comes to scaling, ease of use, comfort etc. You can most certainly still seriously fuck up your grow while using a hood if you don't have good technique.

Here are some pics for reference...
Box 1:

Box2:

These are two separate grows spawned 3-4 days apart (box 2 the later grow)... Looking way too dry too me...

Yeah those are pretty dry.
I’d probably soak it.
Are those pictures from now or are they old?

PMBastian said: Question for bag people: How do you like to nocc your grains? I've been just stabbing my agar wedges and opening the bag to slide the agar off of the scalpel inside the bag. Don't like this method, its very finicky and too risky contam-wise.
I just tried a makeshift version of the blenderless LI tek, but i haven't seen any growth in that bag yet, it's at least 5 days since innoc. So that method isn't looking like it is going to be my favorite either.
I've been thinking about making grain jars nocced with agar wedges and G2Ging them to the bag. Afraid of contam vectors though, f.ex. the side of the jar you are pouring from would likely touch the inside of the bag.
Any favorite methods people want to share?
I'm having a good amount of luck with LI injected into 4 quarts of rye berries in a bag. Hot tip.... shake the hell out of the bags when they are very hot. The starch gets everywhere and makes the LI really leap.

As mentioned, I tried LI a short while ago and still see no growth. I poured tho, I don't want to use the injection ports as they look like they are close to loosing their self healing properties.
Just botched an agar wedge drop yesterday, the agar ended up impaled a good 4 cm up the handle of the scalpel before I could get it off into the bag. I'll consider myself extremely lucky if that bag ends up contam free.

Thats weird Ed I had that before but it was from accidentally clicking something while posting.
Lol @ the wedge on the handle.
I can’t even tell you how many awesome cultures have died at the bottom of my SAB cuz I fumbled something while moving them six inches to the jar.

OH! summanabitch, that's the part i was missing! The bottom part! Ya, I like this a lot, but was struggling with getting the bottom right.

Ok everyone's apologizing so I apologize for posting twice inna row! But I had to thank p9hu7 before this post...
So, it's debate whether the jars are 100% time for RW... I think the moisture amount came out great, but the jars were too full. Crackatoa's easy oats turned out really easy! thanks Crackatoa I believe I was shooting for 75% Oats, but then there was G2G and I think the myc adds volume also. Heere's my debate... #1 and #2 look ready fur sur #3 and #4 still have some streaks of grain showing #5 was actually the G2G jar which has been kicked around
Mebbe I just go for it today and see if #3 and #4 contam...
