Since potato broth is brown when dissolved in water, I think it will make sediments to.

If you want to try something else, search for bodhis grain water agar recipe, maybe you'll like it

most of you guys soak but no simmer yeah? I used to soak and simmer, get a lot of burst and somewhat starchy seed that way it seems. I dunno.

yah you couldnt pay me to simmer wbs ever again. 24hr soak. load. pc.

same a spitballjedi. the hard part for me is rinsing. but thats done the day
before i pc.

so i figure i do 30min worth of rinsing, skimming and adding gypsum.
24hrs soak.
20min drain
5min to load.

total prep is like an hour(minus inactive 24hr soak)
doesnt get simpler or easier..

MOAB.. i like to shake the jars the second i can take them out of the pc.
a 'hot shake'.
in the last few weeks ive done aboout 80lbs of birdseed. every jar peeeeerfect.

even junkie jars like my debris jar are good to go.

You can even mesh out the flakes after boiling out the nutes.

If I do PDA, I usually just put a handful of flakes in there and boil
till the water gets opaque then just filter out the remaining flakes. Put
the water back in the pot and add the agar and dextrose. Works just fine

Filter out the remaining flakes?  Fuck sediment?  The fuck kind of agar have you guys been using that sediment gets in the way of what you're doing?  The mycelium is supposed to be eating that shit..

Like... grain water.  Or malt extract.  Or both.

I use premix mea and it's clear as hell. It's nice to have a clear dish sometimes.  You could probably get clear agar if you boil your mix and filter it each batch.
I've also mixed kratom in my agar for some reason and there was a decent amount of sediment but it didn't bother me at all.

I was being sarcastic  Inflection is hard to gauge on the webs.

I do use malt. I use malt and PDA. Not a fan of GWA and I don't think
it takes that much time to filter out and I like my agar clear so I'll
probably stick to it. Not like it hurts my yield or anything

i don't really mind sediment in my agar. it's easier to see tiny contams when you have a nice smooth agar surface though. i also LOVE dark plates

I actually wasn't too happy with sediment myself. I found bringing my PDA ingredients to a simmer very slowly and cooking it longer and stirring vigorously  helped reduce sediment. Almost completely eliminating sediment

if its just aesthetic preference, then whatever (I'm OCD AF about how my bags are sealed and how they are folded and packed for no other reason than "its just how I like it").  but as long as the sediment isn't so large as to make the surface of the agar bumpy, it's not going to cause any problems.

it takes me longer to get rid of sediment than it does to PC for 5-10 minutes longer (not to mention less messy) if I'm worried about it not being sterilized enough.
