The sideways tub thing sounds weird until you see a picture of it.
You can use the same blade for everything it’ll get torched anyways.
Lol gizmo do you just swing a samurai sword across the top of the sub?? Somebody should do that with a slow motion close up of all the shrooms popping off.
I always just grab however many are super close together and slightly pull up them slice them off.

has anybody tried an angled pair of shears/scissors like this, might allow you to cut everything straight a little easier?

I think someone might have posted somethning similar in the post your new tools thread but I can't remember who it was, can't find the post. I think what they had found was even more angled than that, they looked so perfect

That would be perfect for shoeboxes
Its funny cause people use similar scissors for cannabis bud trimming. Coincidence? I think not

PMBastian said: Do people here have specialized harvesting tools? I've used tiny nail scissors for a long time, but I'm thinking about trying something more efficient. Hard to harvest good, dense flushes without damaging the other mushrooms when you have to fit your hand with a horizontal tool in between the shroom you're harvesting and the neighbouring shroom.
Thinking about using a long scalpel blade modified with pliers to bend at a 90 degree angle from the handle, to be able to cut the base off the shrooms without messing too much with the nearby shrooms.
Any thoughts?[/quote Use a scalpel or regular hand scissors. Shears even. Scalpel takes a bit longer but gives you extreme control of keeping substrate off the fruits. Scissors also are great but you may end up with large stumps but that doesn’t even matter.

Just saying I've had good results with liners to lift out subs and big ass chef knife to harvest. I can't imagine it could be easier than that.
I did wonder about putting in a grill into the liner before the sub. So that when you lift it out by the liner the sub doesn't contort and bend as it comes out. I dunno, it might help lessen any stress on the myc by tearing it apart as the sub bends. The one i use in the sab fits a mono.

I really like the Fiskar soft-touch scissors for pruning when it comes to lengthy harvest and getting into tight spaces. They're like 10 to 15$ from Walmart, Lowes, Etc.

I once had the thought to bend up a heavy wire grill with two handles that protrude up above the surface to aid in lifting the entire thing out. With enough wire embedded, the whole thing could lift out sans liner.

So it dropped to 10 psi for just a few minutes? Id just get it back to 15psi and add how much ever time was spent below 15. If its grain or whatever, it cant hurt to just add a bit of time. But if it only dropped for a few minutes and went right back up, youre probably good to just let it keep rolling.
If its agar or LC, you probably just wanna let it roll. Adding too much time can caramelize the sugers, or so Ive heard. Never actually had that happen.

I cleaned and plastic’d a portion of the room and wanna fruit in It with shoeboxes and unmodified monos . There are 2 windows About 10 feet away from the grow room so I think that would cover all the gas exchange and shit like that so there ain’t just still air. Its dirty af all around the house that this grow is in this my reason for the plastic. .Does anyone think I will run into problems?

Sidenote- it leaks a little but only at the window so I think I can keep it away from leaking to my grow space like in picture
how do you plan to humidify the room?
I was growing in a tiny ass room that had no humidity pushed out like 100 shoeboxes in there so far . I dident think humidity would really be an issue. I was actually thinking about getting a dehumidifier because it seems like the floor is kinda damp every now n then

RyeHumor said: Hmm you know it occurs to me there are competing factors here.
I used to live on a boat, fresh air flow was the name of the game trying to prevent mold from infesting the interior.
Putting plastic up like that does invite moisture to be trapped. Stagnant air + trapped humidity would be likely to promote the mold you're trying to avoid.
on the other hand you've got the nice plastic surface to clean...
Maybe the answer is to keep the room well ventilated behind the plastic?
Not sure if it's practical, but it might be counterproductive to SAB work since you're really wanting the air to settle.
So this post is probably no help. I'm still conflicted myself haha
Food for thought though.
It actually is pretty we’ll ventilated behind the plastic so ventilated I was thinking about putting tape or wood on the bottom of plastic to stop it from moving so much. I figured I would just bleach it up once a week or every other week behind the plastic
sounds good! stoked to see what you do with it. looks like a killer space

I just want to add Ted, I use a dehumidifier all the time right outside my grow room. It does help keep the humidity down. That thing pulls like 1-2 gallons in 8 hours.

I guess this is how it works... the Shoebox grow
and after dumping them in the garden... at least 3xs the size. 6" dia. And that cap made some potent tea, but was black with spores!

Crazy how different outdoor ones look.
I’ve been thinking about putting a shoebox outside in a shady area with like 10 inch grass to see if they’ll grow.
There’s almost no humidity here so I’d have to hope the grass kept thing decent.
