Be careful, molds could start growing behind that plastic.

Maybe if you sanded the table top and painted it with some sealer. I prefer glass or metal work surfaces. Easier to clean.
I once made a grow room similar to that and it worked pretty well for about a year.

Hey every one just did a g2g a few days ago and my jars are colonizing fast. I was wondering if I should shake them like I did the jars that I inoculated with agar wedges or just let them be all the way through.
Pics. The jar on the left didn't get as much as the rest so it's a bit slower.

I’d just let them finish, looks like the grain was mixed in pretty well.

Would it be the same if I just wrapped plastic around the table top?
And why only a year bro
Think I will be ok mixing my spawn in there?

I am sorry, my brain has been overloaded yesterday because of too much information. Now I'm clear: 5 BRF cakes in a HC, the other 5 cakes mixed with prepared coir in one or more shoeboxes, depends on how much it fits. One spore syringe should be enough probably, so all questions are clear. Just have to see with the "tight fitting lid on pot", not sure if my pots are alright. Thanks to you all for your help!

I cleaned and plastic’d a portion of the room and wanna fruit in It with shoeboxes and unmodified monos . There are 2 windows About 10 feet away from the grow room so I think that would cover all the gas exchange and shit like that so there ain’t just still air. Its dirty af all around the house that this grow is in this my reason for the plastic. .Does anyone think I will run into problems?

Sidenote- it leaks a little but only at the window so I think I can keep it away from leaking to my grow space like in picture
how do you plan to humidify the room?

Hmm you know it occurs to me there are competing factors here.
I used to live on a boat, fresh air flow was the name of the game trying to prevent mold from infesting the interior.
Putting plastic up like that does invite moisture to be trapped. Stagnant air + trapped humidity would be likely to promote the mold you're trying to avoid.
on the other hand you've got the nice plastic surface to clean...
Maybe the answer is to keep the room well ventilated behind the plastic?
Not sure if it's practical, but it might be counterproductive to SAB work since you're really wanting the air to settle.
So this post is probably no help. I'm still conflicted myself haha
Food for thought though.
--------------
Alright fuggit, just tear the whole thing down, pour new foundation, and build the whole room back up as an ISO 2 class clean room.
Easy peasy

I was growing in a tiny ass room that had no humidity pushed out like 100 shoeboxes in there so far . I dident think humidity would really be an issue. I was actually thinking about getting a dehumidifier because it seems like the floor is kinda damp every now n then

It actually is pretty we’ll ventilated behind the plastic so ventilated I was thinking about putting tape or wood on the bottom of plastic to stop it from moving so much. I figured I would just bleach it up once a week or every other week behind the plastic

Oh nice, sounds good to me.
Back when I was on the boat someone suggested that a less harsh method was taking dilute h202 and spraying all the surfaces down.
Anyone know how the efficacy of such a solution (any concentration within reason) would stack up to using bleach?

Hi guys, can't find an answer for this. Due to lockdown I can't get anything and am having to come up with creative solutions. Has anyone ever tried carpet as a casing layer?

What are you growing? Carpet doesn't sound like a good idea.

Cubes, I know I can grow them without a casing, but I always get a better pinset with one. I have spawn and poo aplenty to experiment with and my thinking is that the carpet holds water well, is pourous and may provide a good microclimate for pins to develop and probably isn't overly nutritious. I've seen mushrooms spontaneously growing from carpets in damp houses so thought maybe worth a shot. Maybe it is a stupid idea but I can't think of much reason why. Obviously I'd pasteurize it first the same way as my horse poo, and I have different types I can try.

Not yet, been using coir/verm but I'm almost out and gonna have more to spawn next week. Wouldn't the poo be too nutritious?

Use a plastic bag. Or even better would be to learn to maintain surface conditions 100% perfect. That's a artform in itself. I've been growing over 10 years and still haven't fully mastered surface conditions. Practice though. Better to practice the skill than use a bandaid.
