E-mind is right, it's a snap in filter for jar lids. It would work better in the center of the lid but my lids are already drilled

My ABS definitely warps at those temperatures. What brand did you use? I'm imagining the whole part in TPU won't work.

Thats pretty nifty. I dig it. I like nice and neat looking lids, why I use syringe filters for lids when I have them. I would def use those.

Just a heads up, if you don't have an SLA printer you'll need to print supports with these. I asked bound2grow if she could make one with thicker walls and a concave overhang so it could be extruder printed and what have you.

@bound2grow nice work - I PMed you all this. This isn't quite ready for prime time but you really got the exterior dimensions nailed down. They're perfect. I bet this would print on an sla like a dream but it's a bit thin to extrude imo
so, you put tyvek on it... whats doing the filtering? looks sweet

What type of plastic is that?
Is this just to replace silicon/RTV? Or are you manufacturing a liquid compatible filter of some sort?
Curious, looks interesting

I mean I found cubes up in northern Montana early July, so that's almost as north as me, but I'm in the midwest. Also read a thread about someone doing in the NE, so I'm assuming its possible. I searched and couldn't find any specific dates, so if anyone can point me in the right direction of timeframe that would be sick.

Question for folks. I just lost quite a few totes on the last run to trich and it was spread across all different varieties. Had clean spawn. Used the same coco I always use. Used the no boil prep that has worked multiple times before. We are talking about 80% loss when before would never toss anything before a first flush.
My first thought is the well water. I've tested it a couple years ago and it was fine for drinking, but has some cloudiness after hard rains. Unsure how the water would matter, but I know its not as clean as city water. Anyone experience this and made a correction that got things back to normal? All the totes are from a variety of plates and varieties. So its not an innoculant issue imo. Grains looked good at spawn.

Could be the time of year too.. a lot of molds are getting back into growing outside. If your spawn was clean, I’d try going back to the boil for coco and see if that makes a difference.. might help with the water problem if there is one too

My contam rates gone way up over the last month also, pretty sure it’s directly connected to the warmer weather.
I’m gonna have to move manure grows to another room cuz they’re attracting crazy flies all of a sudden.

I highly doubt you found cubes in northern montana unless it was in your bedroom. You can check what mushrooms grow in your area here https://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-psilocybin-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area It would be extremely and I mean extremely rare to find wild cubes in the north.

The filter holder is 3d printed, so if you model it up properly you can use it with whatever filter size you so choose, so long as it fits in your printer.
What would be really cool to do is set that model up on thingiverse as a customizable model so that people can select whatever filter size they have on hand.
And yeah most of the plastics that you can print with on a FDM (fused deposition modeling, which just means extruded plastic) printer will reach their TG (glass transition temp) at sterilizing temps we run in the PC which will most likely cause it to deform.
SLA is different in that uses resins that generally rely on oxygen and UV to initiate polymerization making it less likely to take issue with the higher temps.
Thermoset plastics are a material I've been particularly interested in printing for this reason. After melting, they will burn before remelting allowing them to be used in high temp applications.
There are other plastics currently available that can do the job, but they are more expensive than it's worth, unless you're making the filter holders for fun.
In which case I get it carry on.
PC temp at 15psi ~121C TG of common FDM filaments (this varies by brand really there are many variables): ABS: ~105C PET: ~88C Nylon: ~68C PC (poly carb):~150C PEEK: ~143C
So those last two would be decent candidates, but they require you to have a specialized setup to allow you to extrude at temperatures above 300C, which most printers aren't set to do out of the box.
Secondly those higher temp filaments are notoriously difficult to print with. It can be done, though at $150 per spool for PEEK it kinda kills the economy... but not the fun!

There are some PC filaments available that can print at 260-270ºC, so it's doable with all metal hotend, but it's a huge PITA to print with. Although, parts that small shouldn't be that much of an issue.

Basically irrelevant. It's quite hard for contams to go under the lid and fall on agar.
Phew that’s good cause I’m still pretty clumsy in the sab, getting better though. I move too slow cause I’m afraid of stirring up the still air and it’s hard to stay 100% focused on everything during an hour long sab session. My movements are much more efficient and my fine motor movements are much easier to focus on compared to a couple weeks ago though!

Smelled one of my donor plates last night and it smelled kinda sweet and a lil piney is that a sign of contam? I’ve heard it should smell like mushrooms but I’ve only eaten them a handful of times and I completely forgot what they smelled like. My gf left some fragrance oils on the counter when we tried them the first couple times so for a while I was under the assumption that’s what they were supposed to smell like, synesthesia is crazy man lol.

I ordered some melmak last year and have never been able to get a plate that looked even remotely clean, someone told me that's just the way it looked on agar so I tried and and sure enough it was garbage. I've been trying to get my swabs to take off on agar with zero luck, not even any contamination showing. I've been moping about it all day like a little bitch.
