Damn I just worked with a spore print and a loop for the first time it was hard as fuck to get the spores off. Probably fucked it up but only did 3 plates and have a ton of spore prints so any tips on working with prints/ loops?

You using a metal loop or a plastic disposable loop? With a plastic one you can be more forceful without worrying about ripping the foil any. But either way, just lay the print on a flat surface, use the tip of the loop to scrape some spores away, then streak it on a plate. Nothing to it really. You dont gotta get big clumps of spores on the tip to get good germination.

I'm using a metal one that bends which makes it hard to scrape I pretty much just did that I didn't see visual spores on 2 of them but hopefully it's enough to knock up.

Would you be able to see a lot of the spores on a loop though? Like, wouldn’t you want less spores?

Well I have a couple dozen dense prints so I didn't care about wasting it I was just worried they weren't coming off cause it was almost like they were painted on.
And are loops supposed to be bendable cause don't people use them transferring mycelium im thinking it's gonna be really hard to do that the way mine bends

Maybe try buying those cheap metal blackhead removers that have loops on them? Might be a good replacement
something like this or this

how much water do you use? I have never used these things finishing up the last of my eco earth though going to start using them exclusively probably its so much cheaper for the 5kg blocks
I dont use verm so I may have to just adjust a recipe anyways but I am curious if they hold around same volume as eco earth or more?
5kg blocks are sold in many countries...
7 gallons is the magic number, fits inside a big tub like one of these

yup, 7 gallons is what I use too and 14-21 qts of verm. I like verm cause I get a better BE totally worth buying the verm

I use syringe needles for everything. Scraping prints, cloning, transfers, etc... They're so cheap I can toss them with reckless abandon

I got a print labeled ‘PEU’. It’s a dark and large print. Could it be penis envy uncut? I thought they were notoriously bad printers. Anyway whatever it is I’m growing it.

I’m not sure but I don’t think PEu prints well, maybe pe6?
Do you guys have any tricks for popping the lid open to knock up a jar??
Never had a problem with the instant pot but now with the real pc these things are glued on.
I seriously thought I was about to peel a fingernail off.

I flip my lids with the seal up. Gotta be more careful when removing the ring though.

Some people like to flip the lids upside down but I like to take the rubber seal off. There’s a tek using fingernail clippers to remove them I believe, but I just use a curved carving knife because it’s what I have on hand.
