dang ive got a 700 sf apt i do my sterile work next to my dirty laundry lol. IMHO the space doesn't need to be super clean, you just need the air to be still. turn off the A/C, cieling fans, close all doors and windows. Hang out for 30 minutes and let micro-currents die off before working in the SAB.

Yo. Is there a point of taking two different samples from the same clone?
Or should I just take one then make donor plates from it once it grows out?

Lol that’s my North American stink dog. Ever present.
Also will snag beyond heroic doses when possible. Last time she lost her mind I calculated it out and it would’ve been like me eating three ounces. Hopefully it put her off them.
Trippy about the clones I wonder the same thing. Probly half the time I’d take two from each stem but once I saw the difference of the same culture between t1 and t3 I figured it doesn’t really matter.
The two transfers of the same culture were totally different.

Hmm. Ok. I usually take two. It just crossed my mind that maybe I’ve been wasting plates this whole time
I tend to go over board with the transfers and plates but if nothing els it’s good practice.
Edit: Your dog takes bigger doses then me he’s like a trippy version of Ren from the ren & stimpy snow

I went ahead and split the last pin I cloned into two parts/separate plates purely to give myself extra chances to have clean areas to transfer from.
Turned out to be unnecessary because they both came out clean thankfully.

I have some cultures isolated and stuff. I'm gonna take maby 50 transfers from my 5-6 plates and let them grow out. When they reach a hundred percent I'm going to cut up the whole puck into eighths and drop the whole thing into individual jars and distribute them as even as possible. Is this a good plan and will it be worth it to speed up colonization times?
I think LC or blended agar might throw off my moisture content.

Just make soft agar.
Then drop it in the jar and shake it real hard and it liquifies. Basically the same as blended agar.
I initially did what you’re talking about but g2g is way faster and easier.

Oh, I was planning on doing g2g at first. My thinking was that it would be more sterile because of having to open it up so much to do transfers. It would all be the same culture and I could still do G2G with any of em if I wanted too. Those little pp5 mini rounds are cheap anyways and I have been able to reuse them so I guess it couldn't hurt to try. I'm excited.

what variety?
I guess I just tossed anything that mightve been contamd because the output of a single grow is probably more than I could ever use.
But I'ma keep growing because I love it.
So as long as the fruit itself doesn't have mold on it you feel good about consuming it?
Or does that depend on the type of contam?
African Transkei is the variety. As long as the shroom itself is healthy, u will consume it. From what Ive learned, shrooms do not "uptake" the toxins in mold if theres mold on the substrate. So im all good.

Finally tried out my "high purity half pint wide mouth jar spore printing" idea. I found tyat a 5/8" washer was the appropiate size for the shroom cap i had. The only issue i had was the 5/8 washer was sliding around on the bottom of the half pint wide mouth glass jar. I didnt like that. Next time, im going to tape the washer with medical tape so it doesnt slide around.
But overall, im quite pleased with my idea

Was looking for an earlier post where you outlined the method you're describing.
couldn't find it. Mind describing it?

Sure. The first part u can either do in a SAB or open air. I choose open air as a baseline experiment.
Grab a clean half pint wide mouth jar. Take off lid, place a clean 5/8 diameter metal washer inside the jar. Place lid back on jar. Grab your fresh fruit and cut the cap off nearest to the cap inside (so the stem doesnt stick down below the cap. Place fresh cap inside the glass jar on top of the 5/8" metal washer. Place lid back on, seal with band and place on a desk to print. After printing is done, remove shroom cap and washer from jar inside a SAB. Use spore printed glass jar to make clean spore syringes.
Thats the basics of it

It keeps the shroom cap off the glass of the jar. The idea is mold spores and bacteria is on the edge of the mushroom cap. The metal washer makes the spore print cleaner at least conceptually.

ok thanks for clarifying.
So would you still store it, or is this spore print method more for immediate use?
I feel like the more recent posts I've read kinda talk the practice of making spore syringes down in favor going straight to agar.
Is that the general consensus now or are there still mixed opinions among the experienced cultivators?
