How are my tubs from 3/3 looking? (Day 15)
Been at this hobby for quite some time with little to show unfortunately, I think these tubs didnt't have very clean grain. Hoping lysol'ing my flowhoods face and PCing longer will help. Flowhood is stored in garage which might have to do w it thx guys
well , IMO , that looks like it's from the conditions ; you have a fan in there . and what hole system you got going on ?
it's pinning so keep it going but improve those surface conditions
good luck

It's in a closet, no fan. Hasn't been watered enough that might be the problem, watering them now.
I'm using ing a spray bottle that sprays mist and some droplets, will some drops of water vs a good mist mess up the mycelium?
Edit I used Caps' Shoebox On Steroids tek

I think you’re prepping the coir too dry.

Yup too dry. I like to prep my coir super dry but give it a good mist when spawning then if surface conditions are kept up the sub will absorb all the water it needs.

thats what i was wondering too. Had a lot of hype, and I am not sure if people are using the tek anymore, sounds promising! I was excited to try it out too after i read thru it!

Same. I’m down to using 3qt water per 1brick coir+2qt verm. I reeeeaaally soak the pseudo casing after spawning though. Like 15-20 seconds of misting.
Not my idea btw lol. Works though

Ive been using 2 quarts to 1 brick no verm and alot of times even that's too wet. I'm going to start trying 1.75 quarts to 1 brick see if that's any better. I also give a pretty damn healthy mist after spawning and I like to make sure the walls and lid of the tub are misted so I can make sure my monos are dialed or if I need to change stuffing.

Lol read the name on the Tek.... I bet it seems easy as fuck but in reality it is super difficult because Eats is a master cultivator and makes everything look easy. Lol
Damnit, now I got to read the Tek and try to reproduce it.

I tried something similar with agar last week. I learned why the slurry of this style might be better. Agar doesn't like to blend if it cools on the bottom of the jar. Had to do a heat bath to get it to fall on the blades. Then inoculate it and then let it grow a bit and then blend and let it grow. It added so much time I dumped it on some bags just because... Bags are colonizing nicely. I might shake tonight but I'm 7 days in now lol

This sounds odd, Didn't you drop a grown out plate into sterile water and blend? Its usable immediately after that. Slurry was great because the brf and water made wet sand.

Why would we buy something that advertises that something won’t stick to it, when that’s the main objective? To get something to stick to it. And I’ve found plenty of standard foil in all the stores.

Lmao idk but I tried it and it doesnt work great I guess I figured it would make scraping spores off easier. They had plenty of regular foil but it was slim pickins on the HD foil plus I think this one was on sale. But nonetheless if every store TL has been to has it I guess that means im lying.

I’m not saying you’re lying; we’re in different geographical areas. Making a statement that it’s not hard to find here. Also, there’s a lot of place people don’t think to look for items like that. Such as hardware stores. I get the majority of my cleaning supplies for mycology from a local hardware store.

Sounds legit. Backn in like 2012 I had a journal I kept notes in and I used to print the biggest cap from the first flush of each variety I grew in that notebook. I remember trying a bunch of shit to "preserve" the prints. Not for use but just to keep them on the page and keep the spores from spreading everywhere. So I could view the prints. I tried covering them in glue and letting them dry. Covering them in clear tape. Spraying hairspray over them. I dont remeber what ended up working best. You reminded me of that for some reason lol. If I can find the journal I'll post pics. Ive moved like 5 times since then though so no guarantee that its even still around.

So I thought 2nd flush would be more impressive. Is this even 2nd flush? I soaked these for 4 hours. Or mebbe it's too soon? Just seems as confused as I am...

Does anyone have experience taking plates out of the fridge?
I’ve got a plate I that was in cold storage for a few weeks. Ever since it got pulled out it’s got a hard halo around the outer edge.
Just wondering if that is normal or did it catch a contam in my dirty ass fridge?
