I just saw a pan grow in a SGFC and there’s that tek with trays buried in perlite. And another one in a jar with a bag on it. I’ve been looking through a lot of pans shit lately lol.

I’m gonna have to make a choice myself here in a day or two, finally got a decent looking jar of pan spawn. I’m thinking I’ll just do the fogger piped into a mono type tub deal.

You grown them before?

Hello all, long time lurker, infrequent poster. I've been away from this world for a few years, what's new? Do people still dunk their grains? Is my monotub still the king it was? 12/12 6500k? Just interested in what kind of innovations, creations, discoveries, and adventures the community has been up to the past 3-4 years. For a good reference of where I left off, all my favorite teks to read and share are in my journal

Nope never grown them. Do you have a link for this tek I'm not familiar with it but sounds simple enough. I have a old ass sgfc somewhere but I'd rather not deal with perlite all over the floor. Man I hate sgfcs. Lol.

This may be opening a can of worms but I'm thinking about trying a new grain. So far just used WBS and popcorn. Suggestions? Mind you I have no feed stores in my area.

If no feed stores I'd stick with wbs. You can find rye grass seed or food grade whole oats, barely, wheat whatever but you wont be gaining anything by using those grains and price will be much higher. Its almost one of those dont try to fix whats not broken scenarios.
Food grade is pretty nice though and not much rinsing is required if any. Food frade wheat is the best grain I've ever worked with.

Haha, that's what I've heard.
Yeah I was looking online and price wise it's not really worth it.
The Walmart near me stopped carrying WBS though so starting thinking of switching. They do have this though.

Anyone ever used this? Lots of cracked corn :frown:

This is what I was using. I'll check around and see if any others have it. If not I know Lowe's carries something similar. Wal-Mart also stopped carrying the large blocks of coir. :frown: Bummed me out. Went too late to go anywhere else cause I "knew" they had it .

Ah good ol domestic bird seed.
Ive used alot of wbs with cracked corn prep that shit right and its good too go. Prep it just like any other wbs but make an effort to steam it dry a little better and use gypsum if you can get it easily but dont go out of your way to find it.
Cracked corn is sticky... when wet.
So if your grains arent prepped too wet you have no problem.
Rinse very well. Soak for 12-24 hours(unless you're not into thay kinda thing). Then simmer, drain, steam dry tossing regularly to get rid of excess moisture. Then just jar it up and pc it should be fine.
Ive never used chicken scratch but plenty of cracked corn and from the pic on the bag it looks like it'll work.
