I don't know why, but that just cracked me the fuck up.
Keeping with the agar topic, here's a thinker. Anyone has issues with agar separating, bit only in certain bottles?
All five of these batches were mixed from the same jar of telephone agar (I dump all packets into a qt jar and mix together to get an even mix of agar in case there are difference between packets) and the same bag of LME during my lab session yesterday. Mixed more than thoroughly using mag stirrer\hotplate. All 5 media bottles were then PC'd together for 40 mins then pressure brought down slowly. Moved to SAB and cooled over night. This is what I have now. This happened once before and again only in the Pyrex (orange cap) bottle but I thought it may have been a different issue as bottles were prepped separately at different times. If I melt, shake, let cool, it will work but if it is too hot it will separate before cooling again. It only happens in my Pyrex bottles, not the cadamada bottles (blue cap). Clues as to the cause?

One of the blue caps is slightly higher nutrients, and a second blue cap is my sagari mix. The third blue cap and both orange cap bottles are the exact same agar recipe oh, the same one I've been using for most of my agar life. Recipe written on bottle so I know I did not get them confused.
I know issues like this are more often than not operator error. I'm not saying that is impossible, but just to further illustrate that they were indeed mixed thoroughly, in the background of this picture is the first step of mixing where I add a small amount of cold water to the powder blend to almost a paste, then add the rest of the water and heat or continuing to stir with a stir bar.

Not quite to boil, but above 185-190°F. Not pictured, but use thermometer stand on mag stirrer to check temp while mixing. All bottles prepped with same procedure.

I been having 100% success rate with my jars after doing about 60 or so. I thought they looked fine. But I just cropped 5 shoeboxes I used jars that looked identical to the one I posted. But I only got 2 1/2 zips from those 5 shoeboxes . First flush Maby it’s the culture I chose to work with?

Bwaha, I love it!
So Teem Telephone took a hit today! I got a txt msg from USPS that my package was picked up by customer at the Post Office. So I drove down and the Postmaster checked, pick up time, cameras, which agent gave it out. I'm waiting for a call hopefully they get my packages back.
So tracking and getting txts really paid off this time.

That's nutty man. Hopefully they find it and you are not waiting on it to start your agar work. I've had it happened a couple times where they would simply scan the wrong package or scanned the wrong code. instead of scanning it for out for delivery, they scan it as picked up or delivered. It took me putting a camera on my mailbox before they took me seriously, and I'm still not convinced that it was not a mailman's malicious intent, but once they realize they're actually was an issue they looked into it and fixed it fairly quickly. I still lost five or six packages before that happened, but if they are indeed looking into it there's a chance they will find something. I got lucky because when I first went through them with the video and the date and time stamp, they told me there was no way I could prove that date and time was set correctly. It just so happened that the day in question was Halloween and there were lots and lots of trick or treating kids and parents walking in front of my mailbox. That's the only reason they took me seriously.

Gotta be mostly the culture. I’ve spawned a bunch of gnarly jars and never got first flushes that small consistently. Thats an average of what, 140ish wet?

I’m about to see if it’s the culture fosho...
 But I marked wet weight down for the shoeboxes 1- 150g 2- 120g 3-250g 4- 210g 5- 200g I should be seeing more like 400wet grams per box right.

Nice stack. Here’s some titties.
I’m having the same issue with my purple mystic boxes.. I think it’s genetics or my temps fluctuations are to drastic.

lol that’s quite a few.
400 is way above average I’d say, usually people shoot for an ounce minimum to call it successful so more like 300ish.

Mines like 65 - 75. But it fluctuates many times during the day. It’s more steady at night when the doors not being opened every 2 minutes.

Have you had consistent result at those temps? I was under the impression above 80 was frowned upon and to shoot more for 73-78 range.

@staytrippy420 Tru. U think I should get some airflow to my grow room.? U saying your door gets opened allot made me think. I got plastic over windows for the draft comin thru. And the grow room is a room inside of a room that don’t get opened to often.
@randalf in the summer I did about 20 shoeboxes it was well over 80 day and night. I was getting slow colonization and very low yield. Like 10g dry per box . I think that was from it being too hot. Around November I did a few more shoeboxes but the temps were cold about 60 at night maby 65 -68 day (was using my space heater for my room) all my shoeboxes would mat up on surface and it would take forever to fruit . With even worse yield then hotter temps This recent grow I started 2-18 only did 5 boxes, like 50 jars. just made like 30-40 more boxes so after those put out I’ll have some real results. I been on top of my temps keeping them at 78-82 maby dropped once or twice to 75 but all my jars-boxes-plates colonized at reasonable speed and makes me feel like I’m on the right track only thing that’s changed this grow is my sterile technique and my temps.

That’s still pretty warm.
I keep my jars at 70ish and fruit in the low to mid 60s. Small shrooms but solid and total yield is on point.
I’m dreading summer, I get at least 6 months of 85+ 24 hours a day and a solid 3 months of 105-118 day time temps.

Yeah mine are small and pretty solid. Could be a little thicker but my yield ain’t where I need it to be . Maby I will give the slightly lower temps a shot. I just like the speed of how it’s goin now

*disclaimer: I'm not an expert
That kinda what I was understanding. That fruiting did better in slightly cooler than colonization. The old way of thinking was 80s for colonizing, 70s or room temp for fruiting. Then the consensus became that 80s wasn't needed and 70s throughout was fine. I started with the old way as I was just misinformed when I started and have since moved to mid 70s and seems. I am not saying it is the right way though. I concern on your case would be that this far good colonizing times but smaller yields fits the standard model so to speak for a 70s cult. If all so far have colonized quickly but had a smaller than expected yeild, maybe try one or two tubs at cooler fruiting temps and see if it resolves the issue.
