Hey all quick question
I over prepped some rye yesterday.figured they would be fine to do today (have done this before with no problems)
Started loading them in the pc and noticed they were sprouting Would this be a bad idea to use?
I'm thinking about doing a few of them like usual too see how they do no real plans to use them. Just wondering

If there are only a few I would just pick em out but I don't see why the myc wouldon't colonize a sprout here and there
I'm sure you could colonize a sterilized bag of beansprouts if you really wanted to
But then again I could be totally wrong about that... never tried it

I say fuck it and use them. But obviously to be on the safe side, if you see them while you're draining before jarring, pluck those things. I wouldnt buy another full bag of grains again before I at least tried it though.

I agree it works wonders on millet. Just needs a slight tweaking and it works for rye as well

I don't think you'll find lower than .2
I checked other online shroom supply shops and they tend to sell .3

Apparently 0.22 is small enough to sterilize liquid passing through. That's some crazy shit

That's awesome! Where do I sign up?
Also some extra reading for anyone who is interested:
The stated pore size of filter isn’t literally the size of the pores. It’s a rating of what can’t pass through them. Obviously, when sterilizing solutions, the object is to physically remove bacteria suspended in the solution. Before 0.2 and 0.22 micron filters became standard, it was thought that filters with an absolute rating of 0.45 micron were sufficient to strain out even the smallest bacteria. However, the discovery of Brevundimonas diminuta, showed that there were still bacteria capable of passing through a 0.45 micron filter in large quantities. After the discovery, researchers and labs competed to create the new filtration standard, arbitrarily defining their filters to be either 0.2 or 0.22 micron in pore size, roughly half the size of the old standard.
