Two of these belong to shroomery users, can't remember who. The first two.

If I didn't have a hood I'd likely build something like these as apposed to using a tote.

I'm actually in the process of breaking down and repurposing a large reptile cage I built. So I have 4 doors (2:4'x2' 2:2'x2') with plexiglass windows ready to use and not assigned to any other projects yet. I need to put some thought into this. Feel like I may have the makings for an upgrade.

Here's the new one I made a while back.  It's been working great.  My contam rate has gone to close to zero.  This is not a pic of doing anything, it was just testing it to see how hard it was to get the media bottles and jars into it after I finished it  .

So this is a real question. If someone came here and sees a bunch of empty jars and I obviously don't preserve food, why the fuck do I have a bunch of jars? Looking for legit reasons.

They are the size of the large Coffee cans. 4-5 inch. Heated on stove and pushed and twisted to make holes. They're perfect size.

Oh! Son of a gun, mine are 4.5" dia... my last tote was smaller and a petri dish wouldn't go thru.
This one is 90 Qt. With holes I can pass a jar thru.
PERFECT!   :hatsoff:

-Bought them at Goodwill to use as cheap glasses
-use them for storing screws\wires\loose beads\ etc.
-wanted to start canning and haven't begun yet
-candle making\some other crafty type thing.

I have a bunch laying around and more in the garage, but also have some with loose bits, and other legit useful ways. Anyone who knows me knows I am maniac and disorganized and have tons of strange hobbies so it's not really unusual in a legitimate sense.

Why don't you just tell people that you're into mycology. Grow a bucket or two of oysters and then you have the perfect excuse for everything including jars.

Ya, that's my canned story. In fact I really want to grow something that would reduce inflammation.
Of course sauerkraut :horrified:

Yeah just grow some gourmets. Most legit cover I can think of, whatcha doing with all that stuff? Growing mushrooms you want some? Naw not that kind, but I do know a guy if you’re interested (spolier alert; he is me...)

also if you didnt know, 1/2 hwfp/swfp (or 2:1 sawdust to woodchips) and 1/2 spent cube sub makes a killer oyster substrate once you rehydrate and  sterilize it again.

Ya, I have some oysters colonizing but my cupboards are full of actives. Got a vibe and I moved everything in the middle of the night.  Not a big deal it's not a fear thing and there's no reason I should worry but when I get a vibe I just obey it and I don't ask questions. Would be nice if I had some jars full of something legit or if these oysters were farther along. Jars for drinking glasses is good. Thanks for the ideas guys.

Tell 'em it's none of their god damn business. What happen to people understanding there are things in the world that they dnt need to knw? Some old blue hair tart doesnt feel totally safe and warm and fuzzy in the world and all a sudden the entire neighborhood is on lockdown.
Did i miss a fucking meeting or something?

So my newly acquired media bottle has a dang crack in it after the first run...

I felt it with my thumb nail and it’s kinda raised. Has anyone had one blow up in the pc and would it cause damage? I’d like to keep using it, but if it’s a risk I may just get a new one.

It’s under the 100 mark..
