Long as the light isn't overheating your tubs, should be A1. Also I prefer the T700. Playa playa.

Is it putting out alot of heat? It's probably fine. The room temps are already high though. If you are worried about it I'd just move the tub away some I doubt it's doing much harm unless it's one of them lights that puts out alot of heat.

Hi all,
I'm about ten days into my BRF grow and I've already tossed one of them due to green mold (Thinking that's trich from what I have read). Anyhow there are a few more that seem to be growing white stuff that after reading the contamination thread I'm pretty sure is mold even though it's difficult for me to call. My original post is in this thread if anyone is able to help by giving me a second opinion (for whatever photos are worth in this respect)I would much appreciate it before I toss em
Hopefully its ok to reference other post this way. If not please let me know!
Cheers, -RH

I'd mist too.
Also, I feel that a quart of verm is a bit much for a shoebox that size. Not that it won't work but it's not necessary.
Edit: @ culliganman. Oops I was a page behind lol

In my experience when I let my boxes get to dry and misted to heavy after they would mat up on me. Be careful not to overmist.

Don't take this as gospel, but rather one noobs experience. I made the same mistake as many when I first started, largely due to misinformation, in thinking room temp was not good enough for cubes. I put them in a closet that stayed slightly hotter. Then summer hit and it go hotter still. I struggled trying to get a "perfect" 78Β°-80Β° that I read I needed. Once I got some more accurate info I kept them at room temp in a slightly cooler room and all was well. Once winter came around and temps dropped I worried they would get top cool but I let them play out for a while.
Speaking solely from my own personal experience in my first full year of cult, too cool is better than too hot. That is not to say that you shouldn't shoot for optimal conditions, but if you are having trouble walking that tight rope, cooler temps may slow myc growth but it won't hurt it (to an extent) where as much does not handle heat well and it can also accelerate contam growth.

@madhatter u think this is alright for misting? Quote:
Culliganman360 said: Just misted about 3 sprays a foot above the shoebox got a lil beading goin on. Nothin crazy.
I Did that last night around 1am checked on them and 3 out of 5 shoeboxes had dried so I misted again but only 1 spray per box Instead of 3. Doesnβt seem to be hurting the pins. Or matting up. How much did u spray your sub when it matted up?
@randolf my room has been a solid 78 80 day and night the past month. I keep a small heater in my small 3x6 grow room. The rooms in my house are cold we donβt run the heat too high. Iβd say 67-70 average sometimes colder. Iβm in Midwest so itβs still cold as fuck outside . You think I could loose the heater in the grow room or would that big of a change halfway through cropping be a problem. ?

From the picture you posted it looks like you got beads of moisture so thatβs good. You just donβt want it pooling on the surface. I doused mine like a idiot.. think youβll be fine with the amount of spraying youβre doing.

Does this WBS look a little to wet? This is my first time prepping grains. Rinsed and hydrated for 12 hours in water coffee gypsum mixture. Brought to simmer then strained for an hour and loaded into half pint Mason's. Then PCd for 2 1/2 hours. Inoculated this morning with B+ from a MS syringe.

I'm not sure of the effect, if any, a change now would make. I will say though that your environment sounds pretty similar to mine. I have no heater, just ambient temp inside a large cabinet. The lights bring temp in cabinet up to about 70-75 (77 has been the max recorded on thermometer for many months, think that was from the dehydrator). I personally would try to go without the space heater if you can. If for no other reason than it's one less thing to draw power and have running. This is actually a struggle for me, I grew up having lots of reptiles so I had a space heater in my room year-round running all day to maintain the temps for my cold blooded friends. As a result, I now get cold if the temperature drops below 80. I had to retrain myself, and I'm still working on doing so, to be okay in cooler temps just so I didn't have to have a separate climate for cultivation. In a small room with a t12 and the ambient temps you discribe, I don't think the heater would be necessary for my set up. I don't want to say yes do that or don't do that though.

So I fudged up my SAB by making the holes to high and close together. Used it yesterday and it was kinda hard/annoying to work in.

Is there anyway to fix it or would I have to buy a new tote? Kinda annoyed with myself..

While not perfect, you can very carefully permanently cover/glue the existing holes and create new ones on the opposite side - this time measuring properly before cutting them out. Overall structural integrity of the box will be lower but as long as you don't put on any weight on top of drop it it should hold together.
Btw a good method is to use one of those bigger metal fruit tins/cans. Heat them up (holding with tongs and gloves!) over fire/torch etc and then carefully twisting and pressing to melt perfect circles in the SAB instead of cutting.

Yeah,if you still have the off cuts, just tape them on place, glue\silicone\seal\etc. them in place so you have a whole box again, them cut on other side. Really even just duct taping them in place should fulfill the need of blocking external air currents. Not a huge problem, totally fixable.

Na just make the holes oval shaped don't bother gluing the old cutouts back in the bigger the hole the better anyways less chance of your arms causimg air movements when going I'm and out of the SAB. PS did anyone catch my T700 joke?
