Micro doser eh? I feel you shud chat with ShaperDreaming. She's very knowledgeable about psychology/treatment/micro dosing. Haven't seen her in a while though. Anyone heard from Shaper lately?

thank you for the recommendation. I have depression and need a cure. SSRIs didn't work for me, at least not when I tried one, and I'm not too excited to try again. I'm gonna try to microdose shrooms and see if that works first
of course, macro doses are therapeutic too, and a lot of fun, so I'll still do that

I'm going to have a go at pasturing and using in a sub as straw. I do not anticipate any opium mushrooms (though that would be SO cool!), I just figured it's a better use for the spent pods than just throwing them away. I'll keep you guys updated but anyone ever done similar?
You can make tea out of spent pods no? Pretty difficult to get every nanolitre of alkaloid of them pods without refining

That's why they are spent. Already been ran multiple times. I was using them as pain management for a while before\after recent surgery so I have a buttload that I've already drained every bit of goodies out that I can. They're just fibrous organic matter now so figured I'd give it a shot.

Oh forsure. I would assume the longer theyβve been decapitated the less nutes are available though, right? I mean using it ground as bulk sub would most likely work but all the nutes would be coming from the grain. I think you should try it and post the results, I would absolutely love to see that. Maybe add some plant food (crystalline nitrogen) I bet it would rock as a bulk substrate

Curious to know if this works out for you! (I also have quite some that I usually throw out after making tea) Please report back if the myc likes it

Definitely will do. I will likely mix with coir just to stretch it a bit a get a few tubs at once. I don't think I have enough spawn of the same strain to do a controlled experiment so there will be a number of variables between tubs but if I can do 4 of them I should be able to tell at least if it causes any major problems.

Greetings!
How long should one expect to wait to see mycelium growth on 2% MEA from clone tissue? (Clone was a first flush GT, tissue taken from junction between cap and stipe in the centre, circa 3*3*3mm sample)
The dish is stored at 79F and I am a clueless newbie. It is possible the clone had pseudomonas or verticillium which I was hoping to transfer out but maybe this just wasnβt a good subject to clone.
Also, completely unrelated; how much does coronavirus remind you of grain spawn innoculating after a shake?

79F is a bit too hot. Itβll work in a pinch, but if youβre heating/incubating them, you should stop.
I always see veeeery fine growth 24 hours later - the bit of fruit becomes fluffy-looking. Itβs hard to catch if youβve never seen the process start-to-finish though. Iβd say if youβre not seeing any growth by day 3, something is off.

I did my first clone last night and the tissue was heavily bruised, completely blue. Is this bad? I think I'm starting to see growth but as you said it's very fine so I'm not sure.

Yeah youβll be fine.
Donβt worry about bruising either. I hear you can bruise a culture, kill it, dry it....and still be able to βresurrectβ and grow it out on agarπ€·π»ββοΈ.
A couple weeks back I decided to try growing Shiitake, so I bought a pound at the store, put them in my fridge and didnβt get around to cloning one of them until 2 days later - the clone did pretty well! Mushrooms are cool like that.

Yeah, I've never had a clone tissue sample not grow. I've had them contamed to all hell and be useless for my purpose, and I'm not saying it's impossible for them to fail, but mushrooms are nutty like that. Once the tissue realizes it's no longer part of a fruiting body, it looks around at all this newly available real estate and starts reverting to myc and spreading out. Chowing down on those nutes. In another day or two you'll call yourself silly for doubting yourself and from then on, you'll be able to see the slightest bit of growth on clone tissues and almost watch the process unfold.

I'd say maybe 10% of my clone tissue just sits there and does nothing. I think maybe my scalpel is too hot on this ones. I figure the mushroom tissue will cool the blade on contact so I usually don't wait for it to cool or anything. I always put two samples from the same fruit on each plate though. Then just keep the best looking one assuming the genetics are basically the same.

these shoeboxes were spawned 2-18. Cooked 450g of coir with 1 quart verm. I put 1 quart sub to 1 quart spawn each shoebox with 1/4in casing layer and a top soak from my spray bottle give or take 15 seconds each . Showed pins on 2-26 so 8days to pin from spawn. Question is should I mist them. they look thirsty

You donβt think that would cause aborts ? Also I keep it 80F in the room that could be a reason it dried up so quick?

80f is too damn hot guarantee the subbis at least 3 degrees hotter so your tubbis running close to 85f. Lower your temps 70 to 75 will do fine. And no it shouldn't cause abort, well I mean maybe but so can a dry ass sub, if anything it should help you get a better pinset being that your surface conditions aren't very good right now. But you can also bottom water if you are worried about it. I'd personally get some water droplets beading up on the surface. It's all about surface conditions.

I thought a dry sub would be the last of my worries . Seeing as I sprayed the casing for a while. Shit my hand was cramping up from sprayin it.
