Holy hell, 10pk for 2 years? I fly through those compared to that. But yeah, all stores are sold out right now. Every website is charging $80-100 or more for shipping. People are selling them on eBay for $3 each. All because of this coronavirus bullshit.
Goes to show you the usefulness of being well prepared and well stocked.
I was at walyworld the other day and picked up some iso. They had a fresh shipment in and were advertising the rubbing alcohol gave it its own display and everything. I was like ok? Seems as though the coronavirus shit is affecting the quality and they are having trouble keeping up with demand because the bottle of iso I bought smelled like burnt ass. Like it literally smelled burnt.

Haha, true. To be fair though I don't think there is any scenario where I would have more than 2 boxes on hand at one time. I still have one unopened, just trying to restock my backup box.
Now that you say that, may be a good idea to grab some iso while I'm out.

Even if you don't have a bandana any regular t-shirt will do. From wearing it normally just pull the head hole mostly over your head to be the eye slit opening, grab each sleeve and tie them behind the head.

We know that's why we line up projects a couple of weeks apart, so there's always something myco related going on.

Yeah, staggering is the only saving grace. That and the ample amount of mushrooms you get from each harvest. But once it's not about the harvest so much as the growing...

Yea was more of a general thing not specific to the masks or mush cult. I see people in the stores acting mad last minute when we are supposed to get serious weather or something of the sort. People are buying up bottled waters, food, candles and things of this sort. Acting like complete mad people. Fighting over the last case of bottled waters. Lmao. I try to think a couple steps ahead and stay semi prepared so I dont have to be one of the guys in the store throwing hands over the last box of chicken ramen. Anywho lemme know if your iso smells like burnt ass too maybe I just got a bad batch.

I'm heading to the store right now to grab some various bits. been doing a lot of painting lately and need some supplies for that, but I'm going to grab some I so just because I'm curious now. I've never smelled burnt I so and I want to know what that smells like. Haha
and yes, staggering projects is definitely the way to go to keep yourself from going mad just watching mycelium grow. However the other side of that double edged sword is that if something goes wrong and you can no longer keep up your pace or rhythm, you have multiple projects failing in a short period of time instead of 1 or a little bit of leeway before things go south. It's a tight rope we walk

I did that too, but my first batch of tubs failed to thrive. this is my first grow that'll be successful. I have some bags and jars colonizing, but that'll be the better part of a month until they're ready

I've only ever worked with WBS and popcorn though. And no expert in those either.

Iβd be happy if all my jars looked like that gizmo.
Wbs is small so thereβs more inoculation points, and I think itβs more forgiving with prep than other stuff.

Personally, the main reason is ease of access. I can grab a bag while getting groceries instead of ordering or driving 20 mins to the nearest place to get a bag of rye or oats or any other grain. It also has a smaller kernel size so a quart will container more inoculation points than a larger grain. That is a somewhat limited benefit though. Not saying one is better than the other, and again I have never used other grains than WBS and popcorn (and brf of course), it's just better for me for these reasons and the grain size is just a bonus.
Edited because I can't spell or proofread.

My iso seems fine. They were definitely running low on it though. Only 70%. Seems word is out that 70% is what you want

Slightly different topic but thought I'd throw it out there. May make a separate journal log later. I have an abundance of used poppy pods saved up. I'm going to have a go at pasturing and using in a sub as straw. I do not anticipate any opium mushrooms (though that would be SO cool!), I just figured it's a better use for the spent pods than just throwing them away. I'll keep you guys updated but anyone ever done similar?

Fuckin' A we all knw that feeling well. This hobbie taught me patience. It's difficult getting things moving when you first start though.
WBS is the balls! Most grains that we use work quite well, there's jst little differences in consistency, handling, prepping, and spawning. When you do this shit every god damn day, the little differences make all the difference. Most likely you will also develop a preference.

indeed it is. once I get a harvest or two in I should have enough to consistently microdose (which is what motivated me to get going int he first place. well, macrodoses also) and harvesting flushes should help me wait until my other bags colonize so I can spawn, them I'm off to the races
