Check out this huge ass strainer, looks legit and easy to build.

Mr. Alien said: I use a big strainer and let them steam dry whatever time is needed for the outer grain to be dry. I don't use any fans or anything, usually take 20-30 minutes.
You can do two tests to know when they are ready.
Take a bunch with your hand and slightly squeeze. When you open the hand if there are a lot of grains on the palm of your hand, then they need more time.

When they are ready, just a few grains will be on the palm of your hand.

And I imagine it takes some time to spread the grains out evenly and then scooping them up into jars, fuck it then.

I just use a couple of giant colanders with small holes.
Speaking of which, one just fell off it's hook and landed on a liter measuring cup full of agar, which proceeded to spill all over my kitchen floor.

Same here, I just boil oats for like 18- 20 min, pour in the strainer, shake the extra water out and load.

I use 5 gallon pails with holes drilled in them. I'm doing a straw mix in this picture but it works great for grain too.

It started out as a way to get excess water out of over hydrated bulk substrate. I put the substrate in the bucket with holes and pushed down on it with another bucket. It took way too long for me to figure out that worked great for straining grain.

So what exactly is senescence and how do you counter it? Say you clone it, grow out the culture and take spores. If you grow out those spores, have you effectively "reset" the culture?

If you grow out the spores you're starting ftom scratch and the culture is gone. To keep a culture going you need to store it in the form of slants or liquid culture in the refrigerator.
