I usually pour just below boiling water on it in a bucket and after an hour or two the surface has all kinds of junk floating, and big oily blobs. Takes a couple water changes til it’s clean.
Are you simmering it right away or rinsing/soaking first?

Rinsing and then simmer on the stove. I'll try throwing it in a bucket. I'm trying to transition from oats.

4 sides focused best I could, has been at 100% for about 4 or 5 days

Is it just one jar? Maybe only do it to 4 or five jars to make 1 tub, but those are kind of bacterial. Had 20 or so jars look just like that and when I abandoned them and came back they were fucked bad. It was a little over 2 weeks after 100 percent but still if it was healthy it should have just pinned.

Right on. My jars are on track.
Going to pick the best looking one for g2g. I’ll spawn the sketchy ones in their own shoe boxes.

I wanna feel like some grains colonize "better" than others, variables aside. Of what ive tried from best to worst it wud have to be WBS, rye, wheat, then millet. Fuck oats. Oats are for horses and horses dnt taste that good.

its an old pic. I spawned them all to grain bags and I know the answer... just sayin that it can be tough getting the "eye" or whatever. took me along time to acquire the discerning eye myself but an invaluable tool
