I know vert is super rare, or so they say it is. But I really can't be certain. I don't want to jump to conclusions. I think I would prefer it to be some type of bacterial infection, however, there is a lot more evidence than just that tub...and it has plagued every grow I've put out for 1+ year now. Some cultures are really resistant to it, others get it worse. I can't even be certain that this is the same stuff, but I think it is the exact same and that the only difference is it seems to look greyish on leucistic/albino varieties vs. a brownish colour on normal varieties.
There is also a lot more symptoms that I thought were more associated with verticillium vs. pseudomonas
Slouching fruits. Twisting fruits. Peeling fruits. Completely deformed fruits. Fruits with hairlip cap mutation...

tl;dr I have no fuckin idea and for now it's just an unnamed contamination that plagues my grows. But for the most part, most cultures still put out, so I am torn between going all out to actually really resolve it or just letting it be
I am hoping some microscopic work will uncover more of this mystery

Is there any amount of some kind of grain that is relatively easy to steam sterilize? Ive done cakes b4 but something tells me that jars myco-full of grain are different.

Grain can be steam sterilized in bulk steam units.

one day I hope to build a bulk steamer
I think my next project will be converting my crawl space into my new grow area...it has 4.5 - 5feet of head room...kinda dirty, concrete floor but, I can tarp an area off I could even build some make shift walls or a tent
If I convert this area I could build a spot out of the way that fits quite a few tubs. I could take up at least 10 x 10' area in there...
Right now my office, where I also do my college work and shit is full of jars and tubs. I want an office that is just an office and not a grow room

Word.
My wife took over half my man cave for her office. So our spare bedroom right now is 1 part mancave 1 part office 1 part mush lab 1 part cat room. Ugh.

I’d call those all pseudomonas infections except for the one that looks like its drying out. Pale color and cracked cap is drying,
Pseudomonads thrive in stale air conditions and attack mushrooms from less than perfect culture work worse than healthy vigorous ones, finding the perfect fae balance can be a bitch sometimes, but rest assured a few spots here and there aren't going to make anyone sick, but for aesthetic purposes I just trim off the blotchy bits before drying so ehat if theres a couple more stems than caps, who’s counting anyways lol. Except for the one friend that always has to eat the same number of each

Might be if one is in the same country as you. Which is also why I really cant find exact tubs etc. as mentioned in different teks. I will probably try to find something at the local shops and if i dont find anything suitable im ordering from online or something.

hello so i have a bunch of questions : firstly im a first timer and i bought some agar plate (ecuador) and i prepared oats in 2 jars its been 24days and during this time i shaken the jars twice but ever since the second shake (like a week ago) i think its pretty much stalling but i cant detect any sign of contam(not sure about this) and sadly i stored my agar plate in the freezer and i think i pretty much killed it so now i was wondering if i can take a piece of the grain (that is stalled) and transfer it to liquid culture? here you can see a bunch of pics from the jar(all pics are from the same jar) : https://imgur.com/a/zbJnvvA

Fair enough lol, I’m in the Uk and get most my stuff online, most of it’s everyday items anyway so nothing really suspicious imo
