I added silicone seals to my plastic lids when I modded the lids with SFD patches instead of using the whole discs (had they pass contams when wet a few times). The plastic lids alone don't really seal. Also they'd be a bitch to get off sometimes if screwed too tight. The silicone seals fix all that. So yeah, worthwhile.

Are they able to be tightened down while pcing with the seals or do they still warp?
Well these lids don't warp and neither do the other PP5 ones I've gotten from FP. Dunno about the Ball lids, some people seem to have that problem.
Anyway I tighten 'em down before PCing at 20PSI and I tighten 'em again before pulling the jars out if possible. Kind of OC that way but it works.

I havent had any warping. See my comment above about them occasionally coming loose in pc though. If you’re careful it doesnt happen but it can.

No you don't need foil. But I put it on and always have since my jars sometimes sit out for days or weeks before getting used in the SAB, and I want to keep the tops clean since that's where all the handling occurs and where shit can get transferred some. Foil can be reused dozens of times.
"New" trend is naked jars - fine if you put them in front of a FH or in the SAB to cool off. So long as you have clean conditions it doesn't really matter.

Yeah I read that - not had it happen. But I tighten them down pretty good before hand.

Hey primal, couple of questions: Wtf is a naked jar? No lid and only handled in front of flow hood?
Also why and how do you sterilize at 20psi? I mean I understand that it probably takes less time, but isn’t it kind of dangerous to PC at that pressure? I’ve nevr used an AA or a “true” pressure sterilizer so maybe that’s where my question is coming from, I use the 23qt presto

Well yeah, I hear that. My "shelf" is just somewhere in the kitchen though. I'm talking about what settles down on top of the exposed lid and then gets picked up when you remove it to innoc. I take the foil off and iso the jars including the lid before sticking them in the SAB for work.
"Die fuckers die" is my motto for this kind of stuff, and if I kill them multiple times who are they gonna complain too?

Naked jar is one without foil. <<<it's a joke
20PSI for an hour BECAUSE I CAN with my nice mostly new modified (red plug) AA, that's why!
Even at 15PSI I've had a test jar sitting out on the counter with a foil cap for 6 months and it stayed good. Finally got tired of it...

Oh alright
I always use foil and leave it on until inoculation, less effort for more peace of mind in Mumbai opinion
Also I would love to be able to sterilize at that pressure, but obviously the presto only safely goes to around 18 and even then that shit sketches me out.

I do so.
Best thing I ever did for cult probably was get this AA 915 on eBay for $125 plus some shipping. Mostly because of a post from one longtime member who had a gasket fail on a Presto while standing in front of it and got seriously scalded right through clothing. Never fucking going there. The AA is quiet and doesn't leak at all. Came with a poppet valve and I added a red overpressure plug on forum advice for like $5.
Stellar machine, I smile every time I use it.

I know this may not be the right place to ask but I think its to much to make a new thread over a simply quick question.
I'm building a dehydrator and looking for a heat source. I'm thinking a light bulb
But I don't know what(inc, heat bulb, infrared) I should use and how big(w) I should use
Any any advice guys?

I'd figure out what size heating element the typical oster or presto dehydrator uses them order the same size type off ebay. I'm sure it would be just as cheap or cheaper than a socket and heat lamp bulb.
Also is it your bday? If so happy birthday yo.

Is a standard presto dehydro + extra trays not big enough? I’ve ran an entire qwop (dried, 7oz wet) thru mine with the standard 5 trays just fine.
Actually wondering, not telling you that a standard presto would suffiece.

Does one need a drill bit to make the holes for cultivation, or could one just use a heated metal knife and measure the proper width? Maybe a drill is just good to have.

The holes can be made other ways also. I'd suggest buying a drill though. Every adult should have one. Dont go super cheap either my first one was a 17 dollar piece of shit I broke or gave away or something now I have a dewalt that will probably outlast me. Ok I didnt buy it but it was a great gift lol. If you go cheap I'd get one with a cord. More torque. I'd also look up reviews first when it comes to drills there is some crap ones and some decent to really expensive ones. Somewhere between the 2 there are some gems.

My new flow hood thread.

Nice!
Reheating agar is a bitch. You need to melt all the agar without letting it boil over. And it starts to boil over before the agar is even halfway melted. Causing me to have to stop the microwave every 30 seconds.
I got to my last 5 plates and discovered it still wasn't heated up all the way

At least I got 15 good ones
Also been really getting my Lions Mane bags down. Looking forward to posting some cool pics when this ones ready

Not long it loves to fruit. It will fruit on petris and grain before 100% colonization.

Yeah LM is pretty fast when its running clean, on par with oysters mYbe a little slower. I would put sawdust bags into fruiting after about 2 -3 weeks of colonization, 5.5 lb bags noc’d with 1/3qt

Finally some luck with a growkit - after just over two weeks from soaking I got these bad boys.
How long do you reckon I am from harvesting? I'm going away on Monday and will be back on Friday, I was hoping to harvest them before I leave and put the kit in the fridge before I can soak it again upon return.
Also as you can see some of the shrooms have white fur at the very bottom - I suppose it's mycelium. Is that an indiciton of an issue with temperature or humidity and should I worry about it?

Several should be ready by Monday, but not all of them. Fuzzy feet means you need more FAE but yours aren't bad. Congrats, you've caught the addiction now, go ahead and get you 6 dozen jars and bags of grain and agar.
