Will MS (from syringe, no SAB or agar involved) still work with grain spawn? Or are the odds of success very low?

Not recommended, not impossible. I have done it with probably about a 5p% success rate. Without a SAB though, do you have SHIP in your lids\bags?

junk_f00d said: You guys have not read what I've written, lol. I am NOT talking about letting the spores drop while I run my hood, waste electricity and clog up my work space. Just during the transfers (cap to rack over foil, cookie rack to container). If you have the patience and kindness, please reread what I said about the double foil layer towards the end. I just want to know, essentially, if rather than precutting or folding, if it's acceptable to just place a NEW sheet of foil over the prints, then cut and fold everything.
That way I get way more prints per sterilite container and on my hood table at once, and save some time cutting and folding a buncha little guys.
I assume this is fine, but like I said haven't printed much, maybe non-oven-sterilized foil really sucks that much, for example (doubt it though).
Yeah I think that's fine too. I see why laying more foil on and cutting the layer and folding under would reduce the exposure. I'm never quite that neat getting the caps arranged on the foil in the first place.
But actually neatness wouldn't matter so long as you put them down in rows and then you cut bigger than that - you'd always have at least one full prints worth trapped in the foil layer. Foil as it comes off the roll is plenty sterile.

It’s worth a shot, I think it depends where your syringes come from. I’ve done about 20 grows syringe to grain with 4 different syringes and never had a problem.
I just used a lot of iso and shot the jars up in a cardboard box as a makeshift SAB.

literally the only reason I don't have 100's of PF cakes goin rn is because iim too busy but they're the shit! you wanna get a quick clone?? test a clone?? test some spores? the yield is not bad just because there ways to grow more at once doesn't mean pf has no useful applications. why's everyone hating??

PF.
It's been over a decade since I've run them, I've been reminiscing a lot about them lately. If my half pint jars weren't all being used for culinary purposes, I'd have run some in the past couple weeks.

Sorry, not hating. Don’t want to seem like a hatter. Without the pf tek we wouldn’t be where we are today with mush cult.
I just haven’t done any yet, my time with the pf tek has yet to come... When I first tried growing I had a few failed pf tek attempts (possibly to dirty syringes) and gave up for years.
I’ll give it a try again one of these days

I realized that due to my nature i dnt keep tools of the trade like a pc, sab, bins, and a fuck ton of jars.
So i figure that when im posted up somewhere for a while, instead of re-acquiring all that shit i'd jst get a handful of pan syringes and go to town on some cakes to shred into a handful of shoeboxes. Seems like a reasonable way to go.

Good discussion on printing guys I always throw the first prints away and go only with the secondary (=cleaner) prints, using Bod's easy af print tek.

Y’all know I’ll always defend the pf cake they are a lot of work, but like Ted said, so versatile and done right, can throw off great weight for how much actual nutes are in the cake

And much more forgiving of bacteria than whole grains so they’re great for starting from spore syringe

Thanks.. those are preSGFC. I think it had holes more like a mono. I’ve got quite a few doing that well here https://www.shroomery.org/forums/usergallery.php?gallery=160094. About midway down
This is one of my favorites because I inoculated the cakes with a dirty syringe and mold showed itself right away, so I rePC’d the jars and knocked them back up with a clean syringe of glc and they grew out fine
I thought that was pretty cool.. waste not want not and all that
