So I've searched through threads, are cellulose filter discs ok? Sfds would be ideal but are only sold in 12 packs, I need maybe 2 or 3 as I only use 2 cases of jars. As I understand it the main difference is cellulose needs to be foil wrapped in the pc. Currently using polyfil and not loving it.

Cellulose should be fine, but isn’t there a danger in shaking them? Mycelium and contaminant can grow on cellulose. SFDs are just ironed polyfil. Also polyfil is the only kind of filter I use and it works great, what issues are you having? The price and efficiency beats SFDs any day unless you’re down to cut up your SFDs and buy rtc

Polyfil is polyester, SFDs are PTFE (teflon) - much more durable.

?? Most SFDs are either spunbound polyester, or HDPE flattened with heat. I’ve never heard of them being Teflon. Maybe Tyvek is what you’re thinking of? Which is also hdpe

I'll let someone more reputable confirm if they care to, but I'm almost certain the majority of SFD's are made using PTFE fibres. You can search around and find plenty of evidence of that. I would cite, but I'm feeling lazy. HDPE is what tyvek is and doesn't withstand a whole lot of reheating.

If they were teflon they wouldn't take silicon glue at all but they do.

Yea I've read several times sfds are either ptfe or ftpe. I'm still not sure which one had a guy try to tell me that they are made of fiberglass and had to search it as I was 99% sure fiberglass is a no go. I didnt find much while searching but I'm very familiar with fiberglass and work with it but wouldn't have it anywhere near my grows woven or not. I have seen polyester SFDs but only homemade. I'm not sure what they are made of but I would like to know myself. I asked some questions about Sfds and got no answers. I'm glad this discussion came up. I work with teflon alot too mostly teflon tape(plumber's tape). Its supposed to be the most slippery substance on earth lol. It's really pretty detrimental to the environment though and I think I remember seeing something about it being in the water supply and causing cancer I can't confirm just think I remember reading this somewhere. Anyways I'm starting to ramble.

I will say I’m not necessarily disagreeing with footpath, but nearly everyone I’ve read has led me to believe they are polyster or polyethylene. Foot I would much likely prefer to be proven wrong so I can finally get a solid answer.’my belief that it was polyester led me to use polyfil and if it’s made of better filtering material I’ll probably move back to them

Just pour nice and thick, and use a medium to high amount of nutrition. Most any agar will pin ime, I’ve had plenty on LME or pda at 2%
Ive never really tried to get pin clones but Cron’s comment made me think tbat maybe a grain water agar would be a good choice too just pc for 30 if you filter it 45 if you dont.

I use grain water alot. Just thought I remembered someone posting a recipe specifically for getting pinning plates? Maybe I'm mistaken it was awhile back I remember reading this.

So I have a really touchy question... Asking for a friend. Say one was micro dosing and wanted to fly somewhere. Can one get through the airport? Nudge, nudge, wink wink say no more LOL!

I never have personally (I’ve driven across the border and forgot I had peanut butter cups one time though lol) but it’s not worth it to me.
But... Lots of people have and do. I don’t know of anyone who has been caught. People will make trail mix and throw them in, make candies, put in pill form in vitamin bottle, cookies, chocolates, ice tea (not in carry on though.
Up to you if you think it’s worth the risk.

Domestic flight or international? Domestic fine, crossing a border...depends on country, if it's USA no I would never in a million years do that.
