Randalf the Grey said: Sorry to bring this up again but looking for some advice. As I speak, voice to text, I am preparing some old experimental tubs I had from back when I started and I'm about to crumble 1 tampanensis PF cake and do some sub. I have never worked with tamps, or any stone before. Should I remove the stones that are already formed when I crumble into sub and let more grow? Or should I just mix them in and let them continue in harvest later when I have fruits?
I'm also going to do two of these containers as an experimental wafer tek with my PES a cake. We'll update on that.
I would remove them. I personally dont have much experience with sclerotia producers but I've read before someone said it seems like they actually fruit better if you remove the stones. I can't confirm this but imo I'd harvest before spawning. I've got a couple plates with atl(galindoi?) That I hope to get to grain soon.

Anyone seen this before? I dont mean to keep bringing it up just wondering if its something I need to dump before it gets worse.

Haha, well damn. 50\50.
@gizmo- that what I had. An almost 3yr old atl#7 Galindoi MSS that was given to me. Cleaning on agar but took a chance with a PF cake and it looks great (I think).
I was thinking that they will grow more if I remove but won't be as large but wasn't sure if it would effect fruiting. If removing make more fruits I think I'll go for it but don't think I'll have time to try again before my move so want to get this one right.

I pulled these out of the half pint of brf. Next a few of the smaller ones back in with the sub. We'll see what happens.

Also, I love the smell of these guys. Almost like watermelon.

Does it look like I need to do anything different to this tub? The fruits on the back wall are next to the outside wall of the gh so I'm not sure if that's why they started fruiting there. First mono with cubes. X7x. Basically unmodified tub but I use nails to set the gap on the lid. I have two of these spawned the same time. This one has pins and fruits, the other I'm still waiting on. Coir/hpoo/verm. Sudocasing.

This may just be a reflection or artifact in the photo, so that looks a little green and might be part of the problem. How's the moisture look in the tub?

Yep, you can see them flying off of the fruits.
Working on Kings myself, appealing to be able to fruit in tubs also

Just a shadow from the nail. Moisture seems good both were colonized and I added a little top layer and misted it good. Haven't messed with it besides opening to take this shot. I might just need to wait the other tub isn't pinning yet. Temps 70-77, Rh 23-47 in the gh.

Gotcha. I wasn't sure. It kinda looked like a shadow but kinda green too. My bad Perhaps just a bit of spawn ended up gathered there and really liked the conditions. I used to never see this when I had separate col and fruit conditions but once I started "fruiting at spawn" as they say I see uneven pinning sometimes. Always just assume it was smaller clumps that just decided to get a head start before everyone else was ready.

Nice GH man. Are those humidifiers you have in there?

Thanks ;-}> The brown and yellow thing in the Martha is an old-school humidifier. Then there's an oil here in the bottom left next to the Martha with a fan above it. I'm running a humidity controller on it now instead of timers. Everything else is either monos or trays colonizing.

Speaking of stones, does anyone have experience fruiting Tamps on just coir? Iโm super low on supplies right now and canโt get any sand or jiffy mix cuz Iโm broke af, but I have a brick of coir and 1qt of spawn. Anyone think it would work?

Tamps spawned to coir and cased with 1:1 coir:sand.

Go get some sand. Find a playground or something. Sterilize it with the coir and case at spawning

So tamp is atl7 which is also galindoi? Is there a sclerotia species that isn't tamp?

Kinda same boat here. Unable to got to store to get anything so just working with what I have. Did roughly 2:3 spawn:sub in very small "micro monos" and used same pseudo casing that I use for everything becausw that what I have and needed to get these things going. I figure if needed, the myc will colonize the pseudo case and I can recase with coir\sand. I read some people got them to fruit this way but others only got more stones before it contamed. I have some tamps plates about to go to grain so this isn't my only chance (hopefully) but needed to get them going and used what I had.
Not saying you should do this, as I just started it moments ago and cannot tell you if it will work or not.
Also, those look awesome Mushboy

Its been said a bunch of times by the rock. But I'm way too stoned to keep track.

Anyone ever grow Psilocybe baeocystis? Im thnking they may have a higher concentration of baeocystin, and in turn may have a slightly different effect in general.

Okay Iโll grab some sand, but should I really sterilize the substrate and casing? And only the casing should contain sand? What kind of maintenance do these need? IE: more fae, more humidity, shit like that.
I usually only pasteurize my substrate but I still have my presto so Iโm able to sterilize it, just worried that my sporeload in My new place is a little too high for sterilized sub. We have aspergillus growing all over in our bathroom and Iโve been meaning to clean it.
Last question, whatโs the potency difference between tamp fruits and cubes?

I mentioned sterilizing the sand/coir in case you grab sand from a public playground or a cactus
I've just tossed in bagged sand with the water while bucket tekking(not pasteurization).
Dont forget coir has no microbes so pastuerizing coir is rather pointless. If you feel the need to 'clean' the coir I'd just sterilize the stuff.
Tamps feel different than cubes ime. Not euphoric but kinda e feeling.
