I want to get into using bags for grain, working with a SAB I found the general tek I'm gonna use with inoculating G2G. My question is after I have poured the donor jar, can i just zip tie the bag above the filter patch and call it good? or do I have to have a sealer to work with bags?

I was thinking something similar. I know some people use zipties or wire to close their bags. I have a sealer, but trying to use it in my SAB will be cumbersome at best. Was thinking of ziptieing in SAB, then moving to sealer outside of SAB to seal properly. I have some reusable zip ties (which are incredible) that I think would work perfect for this.

Anyone have any input?

I'd just ziptie them and leave them zipped if i were in your situation. Zipties work perfectly wonderfully. I twist the top up real good, fold it over on itself and then zip tightly. I've never had a problem doing it that way.

It is cool, and quiet. But I can't help but feel like a spore sponge every time I come in from outside.

I did for some time. Unfortunately I knew jack shit about mushroom ID (still don't trust myself) so I never touched them. That it was early Jan - early April and mostly around 5,000-6,000ft so didn't see many, though I know they were there. Tons of black bear droppings and a deer family that hung out with me most mornings, but no fungi.

Was planning on heading back out for 3-6mobths this spring for a treasure hunt (Forest Fenn) but will likely delay that. Hopefully no more than a few months.
Don't get me wrong, you'll never appreciate plumbing and hot water more than coming back from things like that, but I can't wait to be lost in the right direction again.
Never stop wondering; never stop wandering

P.S. sorry for the self affirming tangent. I can't control myself when I hear people talk about the forests. I'm like a dog that just heard the word "walk".

Some of us got counterfeit Ray-Bans, some of us got counterfeit Cartier bracelets. I contacted the company and they said it was a mistake and offered to send me the right item. Waiting to see how this all plays out. I don't expect an authentic aa941, but I'm too curious to not find out what they send.

My counterfeit Cartier went to my girlfriend as a Christmas present that got lost in shipping.

Any ideas on what this is? It looks like burnt/carmelized sugars that you can get when distilling at too high temperatures. Its on the glass between a piece of pelletized gypsum and a couple grains.

Hey guys, I have some bags of rice ~90% colonized and i was thinking of using one of the bags to G2G a new set a bags. I was wondering what would be the fastest way to get fruits from the remaining spawn?

I was thinking of doing like a mini bulk of 1 part spawn and 0.5 parts coir in a small plastic container, would that work or will I just have to wait for my bigger tubs?

I dont think making a smaller tub will really increase speed much I think the fastest method would be to case and top fruit a bag but yield would more than likely suffer.
I'd just make monotubs and wait it out.

Yeah for real. I didn't expect a response when I first emailed them. and I know when they did respond I should have just stuck with the refund that I originally asked for, but my curiosity got the best of me when they offered they send it again. Again, I'm not expecting much and I haven't gotten a new tracking number yet so I'm kind of just putting it out of my mind and if something shows up it'll be a surprise. Yes, it ships from China.

How many bags do you have? And how much grain is in them? I do minis more than full size Manos, just because I'm still learning and don't want to take the risk of putting all my jars in one tub. But if you have 5 or 6 quarts in each bag, you might as well go ahead and do a full size.
A 1:2 sub to spawn is pretty high. I usually do 1:2 or 1:3 spawn to sub but many if not most people on here seem to do 1:1 ratio of Spawn to sub when doing shoeboxes and minis. 1qt spawn jar and 2-3qt coir\verm sub in a tub and pretty much set and forget (except I can't stop looking at them).
I am by no means am expert so please take my advice as nothing more than anecdotal experience from a fellow novice and learner.

I'm using 14qt and 18qt tubs so pretty damn close to yours. Spawned this on 01\12 and first pins are forming now. These are all 1:3ish spawn:sub. 1qt spawn, roughly 3qts sub.

I do have 1 in there that is 1:1 because I had 2 jars that were quite questionable so I out them together in one tub. It was not there first to pin but that could be due to bacteria.

Sorry to bring this up again but looking for some advice. As I speak, voice to text, I am preparing some old experimental tubs I had from back when I started and I'm about to crumble 1 tampanensis PF cake and do some sub. I have never worked with tamps, or any stone before. Should I remove the stones that are already formed when I crumble into sub and let more grow? Or should I just mix them in and let them continue in harvest later when I have fruits?

I'm also going to do two of these containers as an experimental wafer tek with my PES a cake. We'll update on that.
