I don't know. I loathe those fucking things and don't use them. These little "holy grail" no pours a sure working out nicely though.

I suppose (from what i've read) it very well may screw you. But who knows, i think some people say they don't. Do you have holes in the top covered in micropore?

I believe the purpose of the paper towel is to wick moisture away from micropore tape. However, with or without paper towel, I've never had micropore come out dry on jars. Never tried those plates but I would say just allow tape to dry in SAB or FH and you should be fine. The issue (again, as I understand it) is not from the water itself but that the moisture compromise to filtering ability of the tape.

Contacted them this morning notifying them about the "mistake," so we'll see what they say. Randalf said they offered to ship him the correct item, so who knows! Ordered them at www.buckramce.com

Regarding co2 levels, my interest in it is for myself and for my mushrooms. Last time i went to visit a shiitake farm i do some work for we did some testing of co2 levels at found that the grow area was borderline fucking death. I haven't done a lot of research into it but i know we do a lot better breathing o2.

Exposure to CO2 can produce a variety of health effects. These may include headaches, dizziness, restlessness, a tingling or pins or needles feeling, difficulty breathing, sweating, tiredness, increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, coma, asphyxia, and convulsions.

That sounds far from good for you, me or our magical friends.

We all know what happens to fruits trying to mature without adequate fresh air. I just want to dial my game up another notch and make sure i'm not poisoning myself or my magic.

You could do with some plants of the type to suck up all that co2 that grow in full shade.

Those of you with Electric transfer tool sterilizers -

When working with syringes, are you using it to flame sterilize the needle? It takes forever and softens the plastic sometimes to the point where the cap doesn't fit as well. Any tips or do you go back to alcohol lamp or propane torch for this?

@Verum, What about a small extractor fan, so you won't have to worry about CO2?

Funny how similar they are. I cut the one out for a jar and a little fuzz showed up the next morning so I let it go.

I assume he already has one, he just wants to know if its doing the job adequately. I myself have wondered the same thing, my exhaust only kicks on above 78 and cools to 72 and then shuts off, but I was considering hooking up an idle/ temp controller, so it can constantly provide FAE and still kick on to cool the room. The other option is a bigger fan on a thermostat and a small one constantly running. But even so without a CO2 meter you might be over or underdoing it.

Im about to make some spore syringes this weekend, but I cant decide what the best tool to scrap spores off a tin foil print would be.

What do y'all prefer?

I used a pallet knife (for painting) for this and seems to work out very well. Could "scoop" up the spores and was thin enough to slide into the syringe a bit.

Haha, I thought my cattle dog was bad enough, then my gfs husky showed up. I feel ya.

I have a PF jar of TAMPS that soaked over night. About to move to fruit today. Still can't decide best way to go about it.
Tempted to just put it back in the jar and case with verm. May crumble into a screw top 1qt ziplock and mix with sub.
My big question right now though is should I harvest what stones have formed now, or wait until fruiting is done?
Similarly,if I crumble, should I put the stones back in the sub and dig out later or just harvest at crumbling?

These things have me so confused ... Though I was started to figure shit out before I started messing with these guys. Just feels so different than fruiting my ol trusty cubes.

you should totally make agar plates and swab the spores direct to agar

Hey guys

This is my second attempt at growing mushrooms from a growkit, the last time didn't work out so the vendor sent me a new one foc

I soaked the kit overnight 3 days ago and out it in the growbag. last night I inserted the thermometer/hygrometer probes into the bag to make sure I maintan the right temperature and it quickly showed something around 23 degrees C and 99& humidity. Beautiful I thought. When I came back to it in the morning it showed 94% so I thought a little mist won't hurt so went to grab my gloves and bottle and upon return it shows 84%... I gave it a mist, put the probes back in, sealed the bag and it shows 75%. I thought it needs to adjust so I waited for a bit but it still showed the same, so I thought I'd give it a more generous mist this time but after sealing the bag again it's showing 65% which completely puzzles me. I'm starting to think that  the hygrometer might be faulty as there is clearly a lot of condensation on the inside of the bag and there is water standing at the bottom of it. Even the bloody hygrometer probe has a condensation on it! any thoughts? May I add that I soaked the kit for about 6-7 hours, not 12 as in the instruction manual, do you think that might have an effect?

I haven't used paper towels on my pasty plates for the last few goes. I honestly just forgot about that part until I read your comment! I've just been covering the top with foil and they've been working fine.
