This is one plate of my LGT's. it fell behind my other 2 that i took the first transfers from but it looks a lot better than the transfer plates...

i let it sit for a few extra days and noticed some really nice growth.

the plates that i took transfers from were just a bunch of fluff balls like u see here.

this is the same plate, has nice even growth on the front and 3 puff balls at the back.

im still kinda new at the agar thing, so i would like to get some advice throughout this journey.

am i headed in the right direction? like obviously the puff balls are from nutritious agar and common starting from spore in my scenario, but the uniform rings is what i need to be transferring from correct?

front of the pic is where ill be taking my next transfer.

thanks

If you're only taking one, go the way you're going... I'd transfer/isolate each colony for observation personally... the rings can be caused by a number of things including:

-intense light/dark cycle
-extreme night/day temperature swing
-meshed contamination

No pours are difficult to view, and even more so at a distance in a photo, but that all looks like cube myc except maybe the wispy growth colony at 3 o'clock in the last picture. :2cents:

thanks for the feedback, there kept in my walk in closet where i do all my work. usually in the dark until i go in and work, temps are steady at 70.
the other plates i transferred from was just puff balls like in the pic, i figured taking a wedge from 6 0'clock would be a good decision,
the wedges i took from the "puff balls" are still puff balls growing out on the new plate..
ya no pours suck ass but im a broke mofo and i had a few packs from last yr i want to use up before i get petris..
visibility sucks ass

Plates shouldn't be kept in the dark... 12/12 lighting from spore to spent: just like in nature... no telling what you get in unnatural conditions (not closely related to natural conditions: arguably, any indoor cult is unnatural lol)

How long does it usually take for a 6 qt shoe box tub take to colonize from the day you spawn to bulk?

Typically 10-16 days for the first pins to appear. The colonisation and fruiting time seem to also depend on the use of casing layer for the shoebox (e.g. thinner pure coir layer on top) - pins seem to start a bit later but the substrate preserves humidity better for the first flush.

It's also HIGHLY cultural dependent... I've harvest in as little as 13 days, where as PE STARTS knotting around 15-16 days... size of the sub makes little difference as spawn ratios will be comparable

I used to install natural gas and they have meters that measure natural gas, co2, and a bunch of other things. Very sensitive. It's not a meter for constant monitoring but if you need to know ppm it will tell you.  I can find out what brand if that interests you but I'd have to make a call, I'm not a pipeline welder anymore and I don't remember who makes them.

I appreciate it but it's ok. I know how to find them i just don't what one to get. I was just curious if anyone had much experience and could offer opinions on whether or not It was necessary to drop a shit ton of money to get one worth having.

I assume if you want dependable accuracy, you'll have to drain the wallet a bit.

Pretty unrelated as far as personal experience, but I did some graphic/panel work for a company called Amphenol who did all sorts of environmental sensors - they were definitely legit and have been around since like... the 40's I think. Also paid out the ass for our services.

I imagine you'll be looking at at least $500 for any of their basic monitors.

Yep, but the question is whether or not the 5000 dollar ones are that much better. I like quality but don't like to drop unnecessary bills.

You can get a decent co2 meter at any hydroponics store. If you are unsure of the accuracy you can get a reagent co2 test kit (like ph strips in a way) which can be costly for lots of usage but a good way to check if your meter is off...

My thoughts, though admittedly bias because I love this kind of shit, would be to look at co2 sensors themselves, like actual components to wire to a logic board like Arduino or Raspberrypi to make a monitoring system. From wholesalers they will be a small fraction of the price of a device and will take a bit of know how but for preformance\cost and customization, it may likely be the cheapest route. Could easily incorporate all of your sensor needs as well as data recording.
I guarantee someone has already written code that would do close to what you are probably looking for (most likely for Canna grows).

I'm also certain there are easier options but that is where the cost\quality call comes in.
