I use the foam laboratory plugs, it prevents over spill. No need to use excessive amounts of water in the pc for thermal mass either.

I sterilize with just steam in the AA insert. No spillage and you can take it out right away, worth their weight in gold if you're as impatient as myself.

Foam plugs are cool.

I dry the outsides completely before loading... hydrated interior, dry exterior... even fresh out of the PC they should rattle when shaken :2cents:

I've accidentally run unmodified plastic lids without failure... not super tight though

All the plastic lids I've used are much harder to handle for me but I have inflammation issues. Personal preference is metal rims and lids.

So, the above pic was with the grow room door closed. This is with the door open.

And here are a few thermos all doing their thing. Also notice that the co2 meter spikes just from me breathing close to it.

It's hard to see in the pics and the angle of the pic makes the analog thermo needle look a little different than it's really reading but basically, all three are reading right at 70-72 while the co2 meter is reading 10 degrees higher. It's fuckin wrong.

Is there a way to calibrate it?  I like the way you think.  I was curious about the levels in my GH but never ordered one.  Interested in updates.

i was just researching that. I plan on calling the company in the morning and asking. If not, given the inaccurate temp reading, I think I'll lose faith in it entirely, return in and order a nicer one. I doubt it's way off but i want to be able to trust the readings.

Those leak proof lids are pretty cool I've wanted to try them but they dont stock them locally. Maybe some day I'll get around to ordering some. I've found some that claim to be leak proof on amazon but in the reviews all have complaints about leaking. I've contemplated just trying the gaskets also but that seems like a pain.
Anyone tried wide mouth plastic lids with gaskets? I wonder if you can tighten them down in the PC without wattage like the leak proof.

All the ones with good lighting only look like condensation to me. I get that look alot with oats, thats why people talk shit on them because sometimes they look iffy even when they perform well  i think the  myc doesnt love the hull, especially if its the faintest bit wet from loading before the outsides are fully dry or from condensation.

I guess they do look a little better than my last batch I'm just weary about using them to g2g I had the intention of using these as masters. The condensation is throwing me off though and the recent contam problems have me doubting everything.

From personal experience is grain to grain or LI more efficient for innoculating several grain bags? I'm not ready yet, but would like to streamline a process in the future. Even just bulk up and stall in the fridge whenever needed.

The biggest argument I see is the difficulty of creating a sterile LC. With enough practice this shouldn't be hard to repeat once achieved.

Thoughts?

I'd say LI is more efficient but grain to grain is much more reliable.

Creating a sterile LC(nutrient solution) is no problem. Slap that somebitch in your pressure cooker and cook. But getting a clean liquid culture growing is a different story LC is so unforgiving.

You gotta have your agar culture game on lock. If not dont bother with LC.

Hey guys, I inoculated couple of bags 2 weeks ago from a syringe. Been getting some nice mycelium growth and wont be too long (I hope) until i can spawn.

My question is, how much does a bulk tub smell? Is it a strong smelly smell that takes over the room/closet/whatever?

It might smell funky the day you spawn but besides that nothing I’ve ever noticed.

Yeah, I've never actually noticed a smell unless I open the tub and smell it. Even then it is not like it fills the room. I have 7 minis in a 6'x6' cabinet and no noticable smell.

Update: tracking says my AA941 is out for delivery so either we will have answers today or I will be filing a claim today. One of the two.

Meh, I have seen spoofed tracking before that gives updates doesn't actually exist.
(Ordered a shit load of ridiculously cheap electronic parts on eBay a while back) But, in those cases it went somewhere wildly inaccurate. For this one, everything seems to be ok. Address is right, it went through the usual cities and distributing centers so I am cautiously optimistic but still suspicious and expecting the worst until I see a package.
