Cracks happen in substrates, won't ruin them. Never heard of wafer Tek.

Oldtimer, from mycotopia back in the day, coined it 'wafer tek' I believe. Was the second method I used after PF. Basically just cut cakes into discs and have one thin layer of spawn under a thin layer of substrate in a tray.

Man if you can get 3lbs into 80ml that’ll be some dangerous shit lol. It’ll be the fentanyl of shrooms.
Good luck I hope you figure it out that’d be so awesome.

Here's the link to the mycotopia achieve and a discussion thread on it. Someone mentioned it in another thread, maybe confessions?, and I find it intriguing. Though I just read back through it and at first I thought I was a layer a verm, wafer, verm. Basically simulating a cake rolled in verm. But it says verm, wafer, peat casing. I have cased with verm in the past some maybe? Also could used coir\verm mix I used for minis, but at that point I almost feel like crumbling in a shoebox of cour\verm would be better. https://mycotopia.net/archives/discus/messages/5/4897.html

I haven't heard any 'topia archive talk out of anyone but myself since I registered here. Well, maybe eats and faht. But yeah... I think I surfaced the wafer tek earlier in this thread. I got similar results to what you see in OT's post. Doesn't seem there's much of it going around shroomery, I assume it's something that got repelled when there was more of a feud between the two sites.

Did you use a peat casing when you did it?

That tek is spawning to bulk back when you couldnt figure out how to spawn to bulk.
I remember reading that tek back in the day but instead of wafers I just mashed up my cakes and dumped it into shallow trays and covered with 2inches of microwaved coir. Called em casings Aka.. spawning to bulk.

Right. I think the idea was that slicing it required less recovery than crumbling. I tried crumbling, too. In a plastic bag to 'keep it sterile'. For whatever reason, I just found better results with the wafers.
For me, it was a way to dip my feet in bulk spawning before I got a PC and did grain. Grain was easier.

And then what, you jst scrape out the goodie crystals that form and dry it? The only problem i have so far with this is the letting mushroom dust water hang out. I did that once with a couple oz and after 24hrs it had turned into botulism tea. Wud a ratio of water with some alcohol to prevent death be ok? Using 2.5 to 3lbs of dry fruit boddies here.
Basically i wud jst like to wind up with 3lbs reduced to 60-80ml of mega strength liquid that's not black tar gunk. Figured I'd wind up with something more refined at the end.
i want to know more about this

It seems to be that it's more or less just that a lot of folk on Mycotopia (and the r/shrooms subreddit) are more into "grow a handful of mushrooms as fast as possible," rather than being a full-blown hobby.

Alright I built this hood and it has about a 6x6 inch dead zone in the middle of the right side Filter. Is this hood totally fucked? I got the filter on eBay for cheep so I’m thinking I’ll just order a new filter from FP and rebuild it. What do u guys think? Is it salvageable or should I rebuild with new filter?

If you boarded off a little inside to make it a smaller chamber maybe that would at least get a constant flow
Or even do this

It sounds like your fan isnt big enough. I used a fan a little big too big and then dialed it back on a controller
U have nothing to lose

My fan is bigger than needed actually. It’s a Dayton 1TDU2, it puts out way more than what the filter requires. I’m just bogging it down right now. Most people say it’s better than putting a controller on the blower. I’ll try what you said to do thanks

For those who are wondering, my sketchy AA941 that I ordered has, according to the tracking info, arrived at the USPS distribution center in my city. I believe it still has to make it to my neighborhood post office before it goes out for delivery so I would expect it the day after tomorrow, tomorrow if I'm lucky. Again, I will keep you all updated

Last time I ordered one they held it at the UPS depot and I had to pick it up.
I sold it years ago to a food kitchen, if this works out for you I'll definitely be ordering one from that site

I got my co2 meter and it's reading high but i'm not sure i trust it. I really don't think it's that temperature in my grow room.

I'm checking it with multiple thermos at the moment. But i don't really need to. I've been monitoring my grow room temp for quite some time. It's simply not that hot in there.
