Gloves are great for pouring if you have a FH but in SAB you pour that hot lots of condensation.
I think some of you missed my point, but no worries. I appreciate input on your routines but this is what work right now. I'm not fretting about it, nor was speaking of only media bottles. You all put my mind at ease about running agar and grain in same run but the time spent cooling really is a non-issue

I’m sorry to bump but can anyone tell me about those green spots on my Natalensis?

You said it was covered with green mold before pinning, right? Did the green spots ride along or just appear?

The green spots on the top of the caps were there pretty much all the way thru pinning, but I picked one and checked the stipe and it’s only the cap. And it’s just the skin on the cap, doesn’t go down into the sterile tissue and isn’t present in the stipe, everything there looks perfect. It’s just the skin of the cap. It’s matured now, I’d say that those spots showed up damn near immediately after pinning, 2 or 3 days before the full Pinset came in
EDIT: I’ve never seen a tub covered in green mold, then have the mycelium completely defeat it, and then come up with a Pinset like this, so I’m going to say that ANECDOTALLY Psilocybe Natalensis is at least contaminant resistant.

Jesus aitch Christ that’s fucking beautiful. Is it cool to eat these mushrooms? It’s going to be my first bioassay in a while and I don’t wanna end up sick. Looks like either bad case of blotch, or mold riding along and contaminating the sterile tissue, due to being present in the substrate.
Also idk if a coir-loving species is considered a “wood lover” but it’s absolutely cool to find out that Natalensis will grow on coconut given that it’s natural environment is sub tropical African forest. This species is turning out to be an enigma, and may be the species for beginner given its potency and ease of cultivation.
The natural environment of Natalensis is extremely wet and the temperature is a stable 64 degrees farenheit. The fact that it’s so tolerable to differing conditions is fascinating. Alan (or Workman? Not exactly sure which one does the sequencing) said he would be down to sequence it right? Would it be taboo or not cool if I messaged him?

I don't have a definitive answer on the pin mold, but I can say that every picture I've uploaded on here as a jpg.
Maybe try alternate upload method (check box) or check file size

I’ve only had it on agar but it moved extremely fast, like cover the dish in 24 hours from the time I see it fast.
I’d prob pick now but you should wait til somebody who’s dealt with it on sub comes through first.
It took me a while to figure out all the pic stuff, I can upload picture taken with my phone but if I take a screenshot I have to edit it first.

Without a picture, really no definitive way to even say its 100% pin mold (which is typically not aggressive and easily held at bay with increased fae) really depends on:
-Is it agressive? -Is it eating fruit,or just substrate?(some molds, ime, will not infect the fruit themselves) -How far along are you? Are the bases of the stipes narrowing to nearly a point? Mass abortion etc? -Other projects? Space for "quarantine"? -PICTURE lol
Slightly chewed fruit or ok to dry and consume: though I'd suggest making tea with them as it may contain some nasties still... any fruit with significant damage or signs of rot should be tossed

Is it this

Fuck that stuff.
I quickly learned that’s why you clone from inside the fruit and not the three day old stumps after harvest lol. 100% mold rate. It’s so weird the myc can hold off all the stuff living in there.

It has covered a quarter of my tub overnight. Thus far it only appears to be on the substrate. I did 10 days of Colonization and now into 5 days of fruiting. I've got a decent Pinset across the 15qt no mod tub. The only place I could quarantine is my garage but my dogs go in and out freely so might as well be outside.
