Anyone have any tips or tricks for swans to agar? I've had a few now. Three to be exact. Did two plates each time with each swab. Never gotten germination.

dip them in sterile water if its a premade swab with spores on it already.

I received a PE swab from Noob and just swiped it in an S shape on 3 agar plates in my SAB quite hard. They all germinated and I have a few cultures now. I didnt dab in sterile water but Munch knows his shit too.
This is the best so far

Made a LI with another similar which is going for it, so happy days.
Doubt I will be getting any Penis for christmas though which is a shame as I was really looking forward to some festive fun.
I heard somebody say they had never had a blob when they had straight cased which is interesting.
Where would you take from to get close to isolate? I take it if I take one tiny wedge from the single stains that will isolate? I know its not neccesarry but Id like a few isolates as ive never gone that far.

7 oclock looks quite uniform

I want to be able to see the growth of the bottom of my subs with a liner, so I was thinking of using transparent plastic bags instead of the black garbage ones I have been using. Should be fine, right? If the sub clings to it, it shouldnt cause side pins, even with the light availability, or am I wrong.

Clear plastic is fine yeah, but what's seeing what's happening on the bottom gonna do you? Fuck worrying about that. Worry about what you see on the surface.

Some people still like to let their subs colonize 100% before fruiting and it really helps to see the bottom of the sub to know if it is in fact colonized. Can't do that with a black liner

If there was a big ol spot of trich forming there I bet you'd wanna see it.
I use white liners though... can't see much but. Point is there's no requirement for it to be black.

Not much but I decided to share because these plates I got from the dollar store work quite well so far. The standard Pastyplate recipe makes a perfect 6, and a three pack of these at Dollarama or 1.50

oops wrong thread, but good info so it stays.

I don't use liners but a couple times the surface has looked fine and there was a big old spot of trich on the side.

I swear I used to could see in my glad rounds better. I'm wondering if after a second PC cycle the plastic does something and makes it less clear.
I used to could take pictures from the side of the bowl. Now it's just super blurry when I try to get pics. Been trying for the last half hour to get some good photos. Gotta take em through the blue lid now though.

Hi Everyone. Been reading Shroomery for a while and decided to join. Wanted to get some feedback on my first grow attempt.
Grain Substrate: WBS (corn/SS removed) Strain: GT Jars: Quart Wide Mouth w/ metal lids; with Tyvek cover and Silicone SHIP. (jars filled 3/4)
I soaked the grain for 90m, then Pced for 90m at 15psi. I let the jars cool in the PC overnight and knocked up 6 jars one day, 9 the next with MS from a syringe. It has been a little over a month and they have yet to fully colonize. No jar is less than 60%, and some are 90%. 3 developed some yellow/brown spots and were isolated from the remaining 12. All are still growing but am wondering if I did something wrong that they are taking so long (or they are fighting off contams?). They were stored in cardboard boxes with no light for most of the first month until placed in a tub by the window that has shades down so that they could get some ambient light (after doing some research). I haven't changed the filters on top at all. They don't smell bad and the good jars all have white mycelium that is either rhizo or fuzzy. I didn't shake the jars after the PC so I am thinking that they are too tightly packed/stuck together. I shook some at 50% and others not at all (I did not know about shaking after 25% until reading more after the fact). Also after research I realized I did not completely dry the grain before PC, but it wasn't soaking wet either.
Did I /am I suffocating them? Thoughts?
I have also researched agar but I do not want to attempt it until I have some grows under my belt first and am consistent with sterilization. I plan on doing G2G once they have fully colonized.
