Any ideas what's this white fuzz on the base of the stem? Or more importantly can I eat it? I had some aerial mycelium before but this is fuzzier...

Give it more time, when I do clone samples it takes a few days for the tissue itself to get fuzzy, and then it spreads out

amidogen said: Any tips for getting a clone to take on agar? I had a nice, dense PE fruit that I picked the other day. Within minutes of harvesting, I followed Frank's Proper Cloning Tek and, after pinching the mushroom open, scraped three pieces of healthy, white mycelium from the middle of the stipe onto Pasty plates using Munch's agar recipe. I flame sterilized in between taking each specimen, and of course worked in my SAB.
That was Thursday. As of today, all three plates show no growth, and as far as I can tell, the pieces of myc are drying up and turning brown and dying. Of course the fruit I took them from has already been cracker dry dehydrated, so no more samples can be taken. I've got a couple monos that should be fruiting over the next month or so and want to be able to take clones, but I'm not sure what went wrong. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks
Dont clone after dehydrating with heat.

Mighta just screwed up my first go at pasteurizing peat/verm casing.. Was at 170 for about 13 min or so, almost 15 but was down to 167ish before the 15 min mark. Did I fuck it up by partially sterilizing my casing or am I okay? Don't wanna spawn and use it to case if it's high risk but I was looking forward to trying out casing.

So does fully pasteurizing CVG vs doing the bucket tek bring any measurable benefits?
I want to try to do a supercake addition for one of my next tubs, but since I normally do the bucket tek I figure I'll try a full pasteurization in turkey tins because I think pasteurizing the supercake by itself and mixing with the bucket tek will doom me to failure.

So I was having some contam problems for a while, always getting trich during the colonization process. Well the most recent tub I started I tried making the sub have a little less water content and the tub is looking really healthy right now, way better than any of the last ones I've started. Is it possible the root of all my contams was too wet of a sub? I know theoretically, and quite possibly my problem was within my spawn, because from what I've gathered that's where most contams stem from. But I'm just curious. Thanks to anyone who gives me their 2 cents about this.
