Ah, that's so odd, if there are any "country" stores like farm equipment that's the type of store would also have them/may order them for you.

How long would I need to boil agar for it to sterilise?

In a vessel, pressure cooked at 15psi for 30 min... steam only in a covered pot for 75-90 minutes

Liquids are a bit easier than grain bc they transfer heat more effectively

So just over an hour in a fucked pressure cooker.  I was thinking of clamping it shut but it might come loose and shoot all over my kitchen.  That would teach the wife to freeze my gasket!!!!

Question for anybody familiar with PE.

This is my first run with them and I have three shoeboxes each done a little differently to see what works.

This is the one that was put into fruiting a few days before the others, it was also the best looking spawn jar. These are ms to wbs.

Now this other one seems like it should be pinning by now but it’s just kind of doing some weird surface stuff. Is something like this relatively normal for PE or do I have bacteria?? It looks the same color as the blobs in my other one only spread out flat.

Mushroom Farm fined for polluting. Not sure if this is ok here, but I  found it interesting. It's a huge producer of commercial mushrooms.

Look up the history of the pacific coast mushroom farm in Pacifica California. They were producing 1000 lbs of Agaricus a day and got fined out of existence. I think they were one of campbells (mushroom soup) main producers.

Had a friend living down there more recently who tried to get me to move out there. Some guy with tech money from the east bay bought it and they've been hosting music and tech education events. They were trying to get some mushroom production going there again but Its a massive operation and the funding and knowhow isnt really there atm and until they get their shit together in that dept I’m uninterested. Huge opportunity really theres 100,000 sq ft of abandonded agaricus grow rooms and lots of still worthwhile infastructure, that is if you have 50-100k to throw at revamping a couple of them to get into production, all the valuable metals have been stripped by tweakers. Piles of broke down heavy equipment like conveyors and dump trucks and shit. Place is a trip..

Long story short my friend doesnt live there anymore but the door is still partly open

You can probably get a small cheap shitty pressure cooker from Argos or amazon Ed that would be suitable to do small amounts of agar as an interim method till you get your big one sorted like

Mine started leaking, replaced the gasket, still did it. My gasket is the v shaped one, I took a strip of fairly thin rubber about 3/8 inch thick that was already curved and put in the area where it was leaking, it was always the same place. And it fixed it, got me a replacement but I'm still using it, works perfect. Hope this helps

I finally broke down and ordered a couple of 500ml media bottles. Before I finally did, I was digging through forum and found some people using liquor bottles in glass salsa bottles and such. I actually really like that idea as well, and just finished off a bottle of Frank's red hot. The bottle shape and size is perfect. Narrow mouth not too tall.
However I was curious about two things. If anyone had ever tried using this before and would know if the cap is PP 5?
And if anyone has tried 3D printing caps 4 bottles?
I'll do some more digging on the second question in some of my other communities and see what I can come with.
But if anyone has tried using a Frank's red hot 354 ml glass bottle as a media bottle and can tell me how it worked out I would appreciate it before I make a giant mess.

Follow up question:
I know some people reheat agar in microwave so they can PC bottles in advance and just heat as needed. Any special instructions or tips for doing this? Or anything different in procedure with media bottles as opposed to jars?

Franks bottle seems small to me but should work fine and I'd think the cap is almost definitely PP. If you microwave agar to re liquify be sure not to let it boil and build pressure in the bottle. I put an SFD in the lid of my liquor handles specifically to be able to microwave them without building internal pressure and still ended up with boiling hot agar all over me and the entire kitchen. It was painful and a fucking mess.

If i had a 3d printer, I'd be making a lot more than hot sauce bottle lids.

Oh trust me, I am. My avatar is a custom designed mini I made. Also do custom dugout, DND figures and tile sets, succulent planters, key fobs, signs, custom electronic boxes (Arduino, raspberry pi, temp\humid controls) and really anything else that catches my fancy. E.G. my dogs food walker

With that said, always looking for new ideas. Let me know what you got.... I prototype and tweak designs for commission so pm me if you have something in mind. Might be able to work it out.

Nice base. I like the natural wood.
Maybe you cud print some kinda porous plastic reusable rounds to use on monotub portholes in place of fabric polyspore tape. I hate that fucking tape. I hate polyfill more. These you cud jst wash and reuse.

I had thought about this. Was thinking a 2 peice ring that could pop into mono holes and then clamp either micropore tape or sfd between the 2 prices. Even thought of adding slides of an iris style opening on the outer peice so you could close\open to adjust FAE. Figured if I made them as rings the same size as the holes on my (and most people's probably) tubs, would be easy to switch over from tape or poly without re-modifying tubs.

And thanks. I had wanted a wood grain bass since back in the day when I saw claypool playing one so I finally bought one a year or two ago.

Ibanez. I haven't played with a band or group on years, and was never that great, but still love to pluck around on it a bit in my free time. Me and some friends had a project back in the day that I played bass and scratch dj for (obviously not live).

And yeah man, keep the wheel going! I thrive on this critical mass of intelligence for ideas, innovations, and improvements. I love making things myself and hobbies colliding so if I can find a way to incorporate 3d printing with cult, I am so down for it.
