I've used the neglect Tek more than once instead of shaking my jars. Just takes longer really. It is interesting to see which areas are the last to colonize.

Heeeyyyy....Pretty badass Ed! You get some titties for that:
Wats the rh where you at? I been leaving the lids off my big tubs for an hour every couple days. I'd rather not mist at all but my sub gets all dry looking around the edges with the lid on and pretty dry under the portholes so i mist. Was wondering if while im home i cud jst leave the lids off and mist when the little drops disappear. And look at that shit, you did it.

Its winter here atm but its central heating so quite dry. Its just a case of every time I walk by I mist them. I might do some in a nicer flower pot as they are beautiful things to have hanging around.

Yeah I mean I wouldn’t do that to a wedge. But for g2g or LC it seemed not so bad.. I am trying to say that I don’t wanna shake dozens of jars I’m too tired lol

Hi,
I have these dishes with some remarkable growth and I'm not sure about what really happens here. At first I thought it is rhizomorphic growth from an isolate, but as others have pointed out, this could be just more sectors. These have been transfered 6 times now and I just don't know when I will reach that single sector isolate stage...
Also, this fluffy opaque part in the middle of all of the cultures bothers me a little bit.
I'd really appreciate any opinion of someone more experienced.
The pics:

Are these isolates or just tomentose growth?:

Just tomatoes. Isolates can take like 100 transfers and grow pretty much in a perfect circle.

Ah that's bad. I spent a fortune on disposable petri dishes already... Maybe I should use the glass ones

From what I’ve seen here isolates aren’t usually very good unless you get lucky. Sort of a lottery situation.
A few people reuse the plastic ones by soaking in iso or bleach solution so it’s possible but if you buy them by the case they’re like 15 cents.

Most varieties are pretty stable so with something like gt it's pretty hard to miss even with isolates

Nah, I don't want to bother with bleaching them and stuff.
I'll just have to hold myself back and not transfer so many parts from one dish to another. From 10 I easily get to 20 for the next transfer and then from each again like 3 or so, gives 60.... That's my problem
Well, thanks for your response on the matter.

But in the end, what is the purpose of isolates if not, that those grow much better?
I thought you go that route, spend the money and effort, in order to get that perfect fruiter. Right?

Oh cool that’s good to know, just going off that PE isolate thread and people saying something like 1 in 12 isolates will be worth keeping I figured it wasn’t worth the trouble.
As well as my golden teachers and maz ms grows have gone I figured the years and years of breeding at spore banks must’ve improved the genes a ton.

I think what happens is with a bunch of genetics you get an average of them all or maybe the better ones will grow quicker but with an isolate you have only the one set of genes so it is what it is. If you happen to get a bomb set of genetics you’ll be set but it might take a lot of isolates to get a good one.
Although like he said earlier these common variety’s have been stabilized to the point where you’ll prob get something decent.
Thats my understanding at least I’m not sure.
