Alright thanks Troll Eater and ComebackKid! Eat them it is. How do you feel about this drying setup (the thermometer is reading 120)? I ordered a food dehydrator, but it's not here yet.

that may work. do you know what saltine crackers are? your mushrooms should reach the dryness of a saltine cracker, so that when you try to bend a stem, it just snaps right in half.

there should be zero flexibility in your stems. they should be cracker dry.

Put a fan in the mix too along with the heat fan and those things will be dry in a day I bet. Not the worst makes shift dryer I've seen

Sounds good. I think it's working well then because the first round that I harvested this morning are pretty saltine-y. It has a built in fan. Thanks Munchauzen and SloppyJoseph!

Yes, you let them spew spores.
Most feel it is bennifical to harvest just as the veil breaks away.
Pick em and eat em now.

I pay £7 for 40 containers online, shipping included.
one 8 pack of glad(tm) mini rounds cost $25.
so I buy off-brand stuff, have gotten burned on some vendors where the containers just collapse, they just lie and tell you whatever you wanna hear when you message them.

"what kind of plastic are the containers, and the lids made of?"
"yes they are plastic"
"but what kind of plastic?"
"very good plastic"
"ugh, is it polypropylene?"
"yeeeees".

turns out no...

What containers are you using? I'd love you even more yet if you gave me a link

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32-x-100ml-Mini-Storage-Boxes-Plastic-Container-Kitchen-Small-Food/191893438404?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3D0f005a105a1a4aec9b3d6a2ed82cdf44%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D13%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D191481992811

been a while since I ordered last time, but seems to be same price.
and it was 32, not 40..but still!

Space, I actually went ahead and bought a bunch of the containers you recommended, but I had to cancel my order when I saw this

I ordered 500 of them for 35 euros, they're pp5, at least the vendor says so in the item description. The vendor is UK based and has an "excellent vendor" tag.

Thought it might interest you.

For those of you unlucky, miserable cunts living in the EU I've got nice news for you. The 500 hundred pp5 containers I ordered arrived today and they look great for the job. The plastic is a bit thicker than glad mini rounds, but the visibility is good and you can also see through the lid which is a plus.
They look a bit smaller than mini rounds but the base is exactly the same diameter. The lid snaps on more firmly than I'd like but I guess they'll get a bit looser over time.

Thanks for reporting back. They look quite good! Think I'll order some myself. I don't really like these petris I've got. I want something with a lid I can snap on/off.

500 mini rounds
Fuckin right hahahahaha
Beats recycling 24 plates week after week I guess.

I realize no pour is quite a bit more work but how costly is buying disposable pitris? I realize I'm not looking in the right place but they seem pretty expensive on amazon

I bought a hundred for 20 bucks. I dunno doesn't seem too expensive to me. From just handling them, though, I think they're a PITA.
