Maybe it's just the brand I use but I hate oats I mean I'm still gonna use the rest of this 300lbs of them but then I'm done with oats. Wheat is my favorite. Wbs is pretty great but I like uniformity. Rye is cool price sucks. Millet works. Cracked corn is cool but it will get sticky if you dunno what you doin. Barley is gonna be the next grain I stock up on if I can't find a good source for more wheat.

very much this. never hurts to expand one's capability. becoming stronger, smarter, or more highly skilled is never a disadvantage.

Anyone here tried barley? I was checking out grains a while back at the local feed and supply. They look almost like rye and wheat but smaller so more inoculate points per quart and price wasn't bad at all either I wanna say around 17.50usd for a big bag I dont remember if it was 50 or 80lbs but I'm definitely gonna try some soon. I'll post details once I try them.

I see it in bulk everytime i go to the store, along with all kinda other grains i figure may work. I'd be down to try strait sorghum. It's in WBS, but so are them tiny shit ass white millets. Sorghum isn't as small as millet...that shits a bitch and i dnt thnk it works very well on its own.

This guy just did. In his first ever 10 posts. It all works. Just learn to prep it correctly.
They all have there strong suites. Some are easier to prep in bulk, good for bags. And some are small and only work exceptionally well when prepped in small amounts, mainly because of hands on TLC and washing they need making them good for masters.
In the past 2 months ive prepped grain using, mixed, and by itself, wheat, rye, millet, and sorghum. I too am interested in barley for its price but may stick to wbs for its bulk prepability

I haven't found a grain I can't prep yet and I've used alot of grains wss more just trying to start up a convo with any barley guys see how they like it. Just because a grain works doesnt mean it the best for mushroom spawn and with all the grains I tried over the years some I love some I hate. Even some of the ones I love have their downfall. Mainly price and availability. For those reasons I continue my search for the perfect grain spawn for my situation. If someone where to ask me what's the best grain in general I'd have to say birdseed. Its forgiving and accessible. I just like a more uniform grain. I still use wbs though.

i understand. I apologize if my response past pointing you towards the guy who just did barley, seemed like it targeted you. The rest of my reply was more a general statement to anyone else reading who might find it useful.

Not at all bud I was just furthering the conversation wasn't in defense mode or anything sorry if I.came off that way. Just here to chop it up with like minded people I love the discussions we have here. Edit: Also that thread is pretty cool I saw it a couple days ago interesting stuff and it looks like barely did the best out of the grains posted.

Hi people. Would a 27W fluorescent lightbulb suffice for 1 to 4 32q monotubs?
I currently have only one tub, but if using higher power doesnt hurt i would rather be prepared to be able to run more than one tub.
What would you advice as far as power goes?
I read from bod that 27W ahould suffice for one tub..

I have a pint of PE spawn that is finished colonizing MS genetics I also have a pin from a plate on agar for an easy clone. My question is if you would bother expanding the MS pint out to 5 quarts Or run the pint in some smaller containers to get some more clone options. I would use these again but w/o the martha
I think it was like 1qt to about 18 of them deli dishes, I'd take the pint to like 5 maybe Sure I could do both, expand and search. Just curious as to how you all would go about it

Iโm curious to try some too. I just bought some Bobโs Red Mill brand. Rye never fails me...so itโs an experiment for fun...isnโt this all though

I have read LED are inferior than fluorescent though.
I just want to have plenty of light without going overboard, i dont know if excess light is problematic. Also dont want to have excessive consumption
