Really not something to worry about too much I’ve grown in a shed that got up to 100 when it got hot out, not ideal but cubes are very hardy mushrooms just takes longer in poor conditions

Give them light. It's good at all stages.
All cubes are the same species(cubensis) and grow in same conditions.
Room temp. If you're comfy in t shirt you're good.

Dnt quote me on it but i thnk generally cubensis mycelium can get down to 64f or 65F before it starts affecting growth.

Growth slows dramatically around 68, it pretty much stops below 60, i’d say 72 is about perfect, but I keep my heater set at 69 because I’m a sick fuck, and I’m cheap.

This actually stopped my worrying. I appreciate the advise. So I had them in a closet with the door shut but now I know to leave it open and just let the sun light enter the room and it can be okay. I love this site and the helpful members! You guys rock!

I agree. Whenever average temp falls below 65 I get pinning issues. Below 70 slower growth. Over 80 things move faster, but seem to contam out sooner. Overall they're pretty flexible and produce in a wide range.

How does one transfer away from intertwined contaminations? I know there is a thread about them but they never emphasize a way to clean those cultures.
Is it because it cannot be done?
Thank you!

The idea that we want to maximise growth speed from temperature is a highly dangerous idea, with a lot of pitfalls. Seems to be to much safer to cruise from a 3-5c variation that one can infer from RR and other credible commentators on this topic. Basically ye olde "jars produce their own heat".
Meaning having a room temp of 21-23celcius is sufficient, allowing substrates who get heat swinging them towards 28, is also safe. There's also the theory of better fruits "meatier" given more time and a slightly lower than optimal temperature. Also a theory that relates to active compounds.
Especially when you place a lot of jars together or have strong lightning, temperature readings from room wont reflect the true temperature of the colonizing substrate.
There's a heat on the surface, one in the room, one in each jar, one on the floor, one on the ceiling.
Quote:

This wont fit in the PC with the steam thingy on. Can this jar be PCed in the pressure cooker at all? I can mount it on some pieces of wood like we do when we boil bony meat.
If I can't reliably PC it, I will use it to mix spawn and bulk sub in.

Its celcius my bad, my point is that it seems a dangerous route to go to try to optimalize speed by increasing temps

I don't think it'll be a problem as long as you don't destroy your pasty containers. I throw my agar bottle in with pf and grain jars all the time.

I do agar and sub jars of glass in the PC, it works fine, but your agar will lose more moisture. So consider that extra 20-30 minutes the agar is getting. They will be clean as fuck tho. No contams.

More dumb questions: plates that had unused agar that got bacterial: do I have to wash, or can I just pour new agar in and PC and be fine?
I used to be a bit too clean, it was a pain.
