So, top fruiting classic PF Tek, does that work well enough? I don't want to fuck with perlite, so it's top fruiting, or shredding to pasteurized coir

It works but isn't going to put off as much weight per flush. In theory, if you can keep it healthy throughout a good number of flushes, it may put out similar weight. Shredding to coir will give you the best results, if you pull it off without contams. Fruiting in an fc as a cake will give you the second best yield and top fruiting will give you the least. This is all per flush and considering that you do it correctly.

Amazing, I will grab a dedicated grater, and probably sterilize it haha.

Would you recommend a 1:2 or 1:1 ratio for a coir/verm substrate? Honestly I've always done bucket tek, but I think I will go for proper pasteurization for this one.

Any recommended precautions for grating and adding to pasteurized bulk?

Huskies, see this tek on it: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24945782
also, in Ziran's update pftek (linked to top of that tek) is link to alternate FC, like the humidity chamber (HC) by Mateah. we are soaking some cakes now to drop in HC tomorrow, too lazy to drill up a SGFC and dont want perlite in the house making dust and harboring contams until re-sterlized. brf to bulk tho is definitely a cool option we'll do if we continue with cakes beyond this first grow with them.

verum, thank you for the LC explain! will reconsider how to cross that bridge when we're there and likely try a couple ways to get it done:jah:

Thank you for your help.

"don't usually make an LC out of a culture until i know that it rocks and i want a bunch of tubs to do what it does."

So then do you do LI from something like like a Glad Mini with clean myc from a biopsy? And just noc up a few jars and then maybe to a shoebox with coir? Also taking a slant in case it's a winner?

Ha! Sorry about the run on question, my head is exploding with all these different Teks.

Ok, so just fruit from the jars to see how it goes?
For the record just to show I'm not just BSing.
GT MS syringe to 10 agar plates, to 7 jars, to 3 tubs, zero contamination, so far! Ha! And that's thanks to you guys/gals for the awesome advances in Tek! 30 years ago I had a very different experience trying this! So thankyou one and all!

Hey Guys quick Question if you would be so kind.

Does anyone here sterilize their poly-fil in Iso-Alcohol for their Spawn jars?
Just wondering if New poly-fil carries contaminates in it.

Polyfil filters on jars are sterilized in the pressure cooker, no reason to soak them in iso!

Boiling coir for 1h and then mixing it with a bag of 100% colonized popcorn, putting it all in a unmodified tub with the lid flipped up.

Sound good?

ANY AMOUNT OF CLEAN CLEAN CULTURE, TRANSFERRED IN ANY FASHION, FROM ONE STERILE ENVIRONMENT TO ANOTHER CONTAINING NUTRITION, WILL GROW... STERILE:CLEAN:CULTURE:NUTRITION... Until spawn: then you can add farts and boogers to the mix

Dude in that case you could transfer agar to coir and still win

Coir isn't nutritious: or sterile!?

Read that again boo

And really with ENOUGH CLEANLY CULTURED AGAR: you actually could!

Pastywhyte is perfecting a technique similar using polar fleece strips instead of coir: BUT STERILIZED AND COLONIZED IN STERILE CONDITIONS...

Look up "trainwreck"

Question to ya all.

I thinking of using these containers - https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ikea-365-food-container-with-lid-round-plastic-s79269104/ and drilling a 1/4 in hole in the lid, then cover it with two layers of micropore tape.

Anyone used these containers yet?

I'm thinking filling them to the line so there is room for a shake, about 1 pint with either BRF/verm or grain. What would you use?

My B+ agar plates are on T2 and looking good so far. Thinking one or two more transfers, then agar to grain or BRF/verm, and then to coir in shoeboxes.

What's you thoughts?

Ps. Cost of mason jars are ridiculous where i'm from, so i'm trying to figure out a good alternative. I can picture my self working with these containers in the SAB just as easily as a jar with a screw lid.

Ive used 32oz plastic containers, the type you get for soup takeaway, with inj port and mtaped hole with success. I used popcorn at the time but sure r berrys or brf would have worked. I think itd be cool if you posted with pics your results
