leave the customer alone. they are about to spend money, as in pay your wage. dont ask stupid questions that put people on the spot while they shop.
especially weirdos like me spending large amounts of cash on odd things like 100s of lbs of bird seed. ill go far out of my way to avoid some dipshits comments.
I didn't mind the feed lady asking questions because she thought I might be trying to grow grain and has input and advice to lend. That reminds me of this old hag working nights at Walmart who daid my roommate and I smelled so strong she could get high just smelling us. Cunt, that state is Medical nowadays.

I don't tell them anything. I've bought a lot harder things to explain than grain.

Hey bag gurus
I need some help. I have questions and I bet some of you have answers So I decided to buy a real sealer, it's 5mm width, manual (no magnet) I don't know that it is spectacular, but with a fair amount of pressure I have been able to get a seal. First few times without enough pressure it didn't seal all the layers enough but, it seems to work most of the time when enough pressure is applied.
I have very little experience using bags, I was using that tyvek sleeve method before and only did a couple bags of oysters then I went back to jars. My grain prep was probably a little on the wet side but, the bags don't look horrible I think they will be OK,
here is my main questions...also note, I tried presealing the first time
Is it normal that after a PC cycle a sealed bag will have inflated a fair amount? One bag had a fair amount of air inside after the PC cycle (I pushed as much air out as I could before sealing and PCing). I am asking because 2 bags didn't seem to inflate nearly as much.
Do you guys do anything to lift the bags above the water? The gussets were really full of water, so much water drained from inside the gusset areas that I thought the bag had a damn hole in it but I'm pretty sure it was just a bunch of water build up from the PC cycle that didn't drain out well.
Is there anyway to prevent the bags from getting a bunch of creases/folds during the PC cycle? I did an accordion kind of fold of the tops of the bags and after the PC cycle the plastic was not very level, the amount of creases and folds made it difficult for me to get a nice seal. I guess for my sealer it needs to be really nicely flat, but I had such difficulty doing it on one bag I ended up having to tie-wire it shut.
Also I was kind of nervous that my bags would get weak or melt together or fuck up in some way shape or form, something, ...but, compared to using lid rings as spacers and all that nonsense, straight up presealing and just loading it was far, far better. No spacers. Jammed full, touching the walls of the PC. I don't know if it made a difference but since I have been reading about presto cooling to slow vs. the AA it could cause issues so I did a really slow cooling cycle down to 5 PSI before shutting the burner off. Unsure if necessary. Only thing I really did was a trivet on the bottom and a trivet on top of the bags to prevent blocking valves.
It seems using jar lid spacers and pillow sacks and other useless outdated things I can avoid

Nobody ever asks why you're buying; crackers, chargers, baloons, goodie bags, chore, glass pens, glass roses, tire guages, stems, inositol, lidocaine, hydraulic presses, butane, torches, or ammonia but buy some grain or a pressure cooker and everyone wants to chit chat...

I have never been asked about grain at the tractor supply store. Is it cause I live in kind of a rural area? I would totally tell them it's for my animals
I even ordered 100lbs in cause they are always out of stock. No questions. I don't look anything like a farmer .
far as the pc goes..my buddy and me split on the mirro 22quart I still have back in 2008 and the canadian tire cashier literally asked him what are you doing, trying to grow mushrooms?

I had one clerk at the coop ask if I was growing mushrooms with the rye berries. I played dumb. My line is always my roommate if making some sort of flour with it, but I don't really know the details. Just the courier.

Im not worried about them knowing what im doing guys. I genuinely wanted to know what the difference between game and planting was. I personally dont think the 87 year old ladies at this coop give a flys ass about why im buying this grain. I think theyre just trying to sell me the right product and im ignorant to the specifics.
I live in a very rural small town.

I'm wondering if simply putting a heavy plate on top would have stopped the from inflating so much? Now that I think of it only the top one inflated a lot, not the other two that were underneath that one. Though the excess air kinda made pouring in LC a breeze

Day 12 after soaking my B+ growkit from Zamnesia. Few days ago I noticed those fluffy white balls on top of the cake, last night I opened the bag and left it like that without misting as I thought this could have been caused by excessive humidity. After 24 houurs I noticed a couple more of those fluffy white balls. Is this contamination? Can somebody help please, this is my first attempt at growing shrooms

Full mycelium growkits from NL are usually not prone to contam before first flush. It's probably fine if you didn't do anything out of the ordinary to it. If not, ask for a replacement kit..

I don't use it because it's easier to fold the bag nicely and I get a more consistent rate of nicely vacuumed bags without it. BUT... I download all bags in front of the hood. I haven't yet done any setting of bags on a random shelf to cool.
I just tried presealing for the first time and might continue to preseal but I'm also going to give the no tyvek sleeve, unsealed bags a shot too.
edit:
He also has a thread now where he has gone on to experiment with the unsealed bags sitting out on a shelf and it looks to be doing just fine.

Its impolite of them to not ask you what kind of drugs. Maybe they assume its some lowly chimp drug like GHB or meth
