What’s the differential in potency in regards to cube fruits vs galindoi fruits? I’m spawning at 100% colonization and not waiting for sclerotia, because i’Be heard the fruits are stronger than cubes and the sclerotia they form.

i find their strength to be roughly equivalent, but the effects from galindoi are much more pleasant.

wrt to taxonomy, here's the best of my understanding:
tampanensis and mexicana are extremely closely related, genetically.
the real galindoi is mexicana.
what we grow and call galindoi isn't the real thing. it matches tampanensis, genetically.
i distributed a shitton of 'galindoi' prints. the source of those projects was atl7, from stonesun, thru captain future.

apart from the 'galindoi', i've grown tampanensis from two different sources. they all smell exactly the same. whereas cubes, pan cyans, and pan cintulus (the extent of my species cultivation) each have their own distinct scents.

i hope to get a legit mexicana print from someplace, to grow them for comparison, but so far i haven't gotten one. when i do, (taking any offers here) i further intend to fuck around with crossing tamps and mexicana. because what else am i gonna do?

Thank you for that info jack.

The galindoi i have going now came from a print that i got from FLM, and it was damn clean. I personally dont know enough to distinguish or determine exaclty what species it is considering i dont have a microscope, but i would absolutely be down to send you a print of mine when they fruit. What should i be looking for? All the pictures i've seen of tampanensis stones look darker than what people say is galindoi sclerotia.

UGHHHH all this just because we have to be clandestine... I wish the stigma would go away so someone can actually do some solid genetic sequencing and let us know whats going on

If you spawn to coir and grow till it farts out you get stones in the substrate, which is my goal with this.

WEll i know there will be stones after fruiting, and im planning on cloning one to get a good stoning culture, but really i was more interested in the potency of the fruits and it's taxonomy.

My only issue with growing sclerotia in jars is the potency and storage issue. Drying them brings them down to around 1/2-3/4 the potency of dried cubes, and you can only store fresh stones for so long in perfect conditions, and i dont trust that my friends will store them properly. Then i have to hear about it

Chatting with Myc he gets more stones out of a bulk substrate than in jars so its a win win.  I think you can freeze truffles and they last a fair amount of time in the fridge.

don't know myself, really. alan rockefeller is our man in the legit science realm. sequencing has been done. tamps and mexicana are five base pairs apart, which i think means, as close as dogs and coyotes.

like i said, i can't really say what mexicana looks or smells like, as i don't think i've ever grown them. i know there has been some variation between the galindoi and both tamps i have grown, but look at the variety in cubes. or dogs. would an alien scientist instantly guess a pug and a pitbull and a bloodhound were all the same species?

hell yeah im down for that

Im absolutely not against harvesting sclerotia or even growing it in jars. I have 4 qts of galindoi (all the same culture) colonizing and im going to let 1 grow stones, but im planning on fruiting the rest at 1qt in shoeboxes. Take some prints and clone or two and get down to business. The truffles will just be an extra accomplishment lol

Also jack that was a pretty helpful analogy. Im not too hungup on taxons and genetic differences, just would like to know. the taxonomy of mushrooms is fascinating to me because it almost seems as if people just get to make up names without any sort of accountability :rofl2:

My father put it this way:
"passing a kidney stone is like having a red hot knife stuck in your ass and pushed out the head of your dick"

That statement alone has kept me drinking 3 glasses of water/day since i heard it...

Yeah BM, I have experienced the same thing. The actives start to degrade once they’re in solution. If you can’t use it right away, IME freezing it does seem to lock them down and prevent it from going sour.

I once made 24 bottles of tea each with and 8th. Distributed them into bottles and froze immediately. Even though I made them as equal as possible potency varied from fried brains to ok this is kinda cool. All from the same batch. So idk.

Myself and others have done some frozen stuff in my tea thread:datass:

Tea itself seems to he ok in the fridge for 4 or 5 days by day 7 the potency noticeably dwindles. I remember reading somewhere that actives degrade in liquid really fast when exposed to light but I could be making that up:lol:

Frozen tea lasts awhile. My personal oldest was 6months I think? 20g fresh tea. Felt good man.

Primalsoup said hes had some frozen teas last years and years :mushroom2:

When do you guys like to pick blobs?  I know it is not a good picture, didnt have time to unstack my tubs.  my sidepin blobs are maturing much faster than my surface blobs so figured I'd show you those.

I touched the few ones that are growing pretty quickly and they still feel very firm so I dont think it's time yet to pick them but i honestly dont have a clue.  I was thinking of waiting til they start to bruise up, stop growing, and get softer and then I will use a sharp knife and tweezers to harvest them.

What do you guys think?

Really fucking hope my tubs give off a decent second flush.

I think that surface pic will pop up with some regular fruits eventually .. and you could give them a few more days ..

I still think with more fae you will get better flushes .. how humid is it where you are??

Shit you're right, I should poke holes in the micropore or remove a layer. I did open up the holes halfway tho below the handles when you mentioned upping FAE.  The surfaces of the monos look similar to the shoebox you mentioned so who knows maybe they'll take off... I've been misting em once a day, they seem to like it.

It isnt really humid where I'm at right now, around 40-50%, its gonna get drier too.  It goes up a lot more in the summer tho.

Thx for gettin back super quick to me
