Well it's not like we can go to the pub to talk to other cult people and I definitely don't wanna have to invite every single one of them into a journal so, why can't we have our own place to bullshit since they've deemed it okay to make the normal place to bullshit a fucking... SJW shitfest. Nobody in cult wants to be in the Pub. You know this as well as anybody.. You go to the pub, and 5 minutes later you're hit with 0s from sissy babies. Not into that business.
Hoe many people here have to want it before the only reason we're not doing it is "because admins said". Maybe when users start complaining that "that damn general thread" somehow takes up more than one spot and ejects everybody elses threads off the thread list..

But nah in all seriousness. I'm at the "hurry up and wait" part. Very many irons in the fire (and picking season is starting), but my indoor grow is KSS to WBS and CVG in a 66 tote. Some look fantastic for tiger drop but I did them in 3 sets of six and I've thrown away six. I think I know where I messed up on those last 6, and the other dozen will be fine for tiger drop. I'm doing glass jars for agar now like Inoc does, and with plastic lids. Once it's good then throw them on tiny cup pp5s, and play with tiger drop or likely Munch's LI. Gotta be sure this is clean first I'm pretty sure it was just those 6.
I've got two coastal species on agar now that are doing well. I'm experimenting with alder wood water for 2nd/3rd transfer material. My thinking is the soonest they learn to eat wood the better. Once I know it's clean I'll be running trials.
The other species I'll be playing with shortly are serbica and subaeruginosa. Subs will be on the coast with my allenii and subs in urban environments.
In the meantime, wild mushrooms will be sprouted before I have spawn, so I'll be adding stem butts from areas into my planters. Spawning under the brambles and hard to reach areas that get chopped at the end of December. Forms these huge mounds over time and the ants eat the wood and the fungus but it's a great growing environment. Once I've got spawn in hand I'm going to 50/50 it with outdoor stuff and then case my planters with peat.
So yeah, haha, smoking weed waiting on the plates.

If I wanted to talk to people who didn't grow mushrooms I'd post on forum that's not about mushrooms..

Dunno but so long as this place doesn't turn into an EMC/MDC/LNC circle jerk I think we are OK.
I got bored so I PC'd more plates to try wood water agar at spore stage. Even if it fails I can say I ran trials at all stages and lay that down on a bed of roses.

I boil the shit out of them and save the leftovers. I PC the chips and water otherwise they ferment. Prepping my WBS in that water. Some I just wanted soft so they'd decay faster. Some I want to just drop colonized grain on and others 75 grain to 25% chips.

I gotta question about mycology differences in humid/dry climates.
Is there any differences in jars colonizing speed? If your spawn run room is 10-5% humidity do your colozination times become abysmal?
Conversly I've read 80%+ humidity in the spawn room makes the sfds wet enough for contams to come through.
Tub runs I would imangine tighter fill for the dry air or a fogger.

I very much enjoy having this thread. Just me alone it's saved me from starting many threads that can simply be answered here...
I last had been talking about spawning my first quart jar. Well, the three others are about to catch up. So I'll have 4 "quart jars" that are 3/4th full. In this case, does that mean two "quart jars" of my grains, really equal 1.5 quarts?
Anyone ever have success spawning that little? Also what's the typical amount of spawn? 10 3/4 full quart jars?

5qt jars of spawn to 1 brick coir is pretty standard. I only know about 1 person who "does the math".

Thanks for the quick response. So 4 to a little less than a whole brick of coir huh in my case. I've never done grains until now and am excited to see what I can pull off better than BRF.
Kinda funny, I was thinking yesterday, since it turned first of September. I ordered my first spore syringes August of last year. Did BRF for a whole year before now finally going onto grains.
Let's hope learning agar doesn't take me a whole year to start, too

I wanted to post this here but the thread got locked so I ended up posting it to cult pic of the day. Way more relevant here though.
I just made this thing based on the monotub design, I'm going to use it to test clones and isolates in the future. Thoughts?
I figured instead of taping the holes I could just put the lids on the small trays while the sub colonizes.
BTW ignore the humidifier and fan, those are for my oyster grows.
Also: Just got an APE syringe, excited to work with this cube finally.

4qt jars to damion5050s recipe is a 1:2,5 ratio, perfectly fine.
Greg as long as you got some GE from those lids it should work just fine, try alu foil if it doesnt

When doing like 50+ transfers how many of you cut out a block containing like ten transfer sized pieces instead of ten individual pieces? Found it saves time. When xfering now I leave the transfered to plates stacked and lift the stack to xfer to the receiving plate below, in a combo of the two mentioned methods I can expand a Petri 10x in about two minutes. Yesterday I made 80 or 100 transfers in two hours. I stopped cutting the parafilm down the middle, now I tear and use the whole width to wrap plates.
