After being constricted to that box for all those years its so freeing working in front of the hood. Lids can stay off for much longer.

Anyone that uses their agar sleeve as storage for blank plates.. what do you do with it while pouring your plates? I've been just rolling it up and setting it to the side until ready to slide it back over the plates. Anyone do it any different?

I don't even bother rolling it up. Just goes to one side of the SAB while I'm pouring. Then I'll wrap the whole stack in a pass or two of cling wrap, then rebag 'em

Whats you method? Agar to millet - expand to more millet (how many jars and then to oat how many jars?
Agar to millet, to 12 oat+millet, fruit 10, 2 expanded to either millet or oat depending on iff ill be expanding them further (usually thinking months ahead if its a good culture) or fruiting those (if im finding a new culture or reverting to spore)
Oat plus millet? Then you test and if its good expand to millet and oats for further expansion or just grow the last jars out?
The new flow hood has upped my game and now everything I try works so I have a shit load of stuff going on.
No i rarely do "test fruiting". I trust that the culture i put in is both clean and what i wanted. My test fruit is the one i found the clone from. After that i expand with confidence lol

You take a clone, make a culture and grow from there? Do you never get a shitty grow from that method then?

That's what I do. I carefully roll it up while lifting off the stack and wedge it to the side between my rack and back of the tub.

youre ding just fine on FAE, maybe open it up a bit. Im pretty sure i told you those 4 corners wouldnt grow mushrooms (thinking it was bacterial) but it looks like it was just being over-watered in those spots. That says to me just open it up a bit more and you should be straight golden!
Also that is just veil formation, youve got a while before it tears.

Thanks for your input! (Great to know about the veil.)
I haven't misted the tub at all if that's what you mean by over-watered. The consensus based on my pics was that my spawn jars were indeed slightly bacterial. The corners of my AA+ tub are similarly thick, but even more so, and that tub isn't growing mushrooms there (see below). The only procedural difference between the two tubs is that the AA+ tub got 3.5L water and the Argentina tub got 3.2L water during coir prep, which makes me wonder if the especially thick myc in the corners of the AA+ tub could have been prevented by prepping the coir drier.

It looks pretty contaminated to me. Might get a flush out of it if you dont have anything else in the pipeline.

When you have a culture thats banging how do you use it?
So the story is I take a clone, a2g it leaving some myc on the plate, expand the jars and have a banging grow. Whats to say that the genetics are not as good on the transferred plate? Assuming the gens should be similar I g2g for as long as I can before it deteriorates and then use said culture to rejuvenate using the same process.? In the end I will need to take from spores again but does all of this shiz sound like grown up mushroom growing..........?
